I work for a very large Japanese company in one small office in Miami. We recently got a new president (Japanese) and he is horrible!! Our assistant general manager(Japanese) is always getting yelled at by him, in japanese. I would understand if he were the angry boss type and shut the door to his office when talking/yelling to the AGM, but he yells throughout the entire office. If the yelling wasn't bad enough, he bangs against the desk and I've heard things being knocked down during his rampages. The rest of the office is hispanic and nobody thinks this is right. Even our human resources contact thinks so, but I think everybody is afraid to do something. What should I do? Is this even illegal? I'm getting tired of hearing their one-sided arguments. I did not grow up in a happy home, so hearing these arguments get me nervous and anxious, bringing back memories and tensing me up, close to tears....please help!!

There are two ways to overcome this situation.

1. His weakness is to yell and bang in front of his staff. This type of people have fear and if someone stood against them and talk them confidently they become under pressure. Be brave and stand against his yelling and bangs. He can not do any thing against one of you if your work is OK.

2. Tell this situation to top management (may be in writing) that nobody in the staff is happy with him just because of his behavior. The General Manager does not have respect between his staff. He is also spreading de-motivations in his staff. The company is good but employees may leave the organization just

Well such situations are actually grey.

Your boss is not allowed to threaten you. But you would have to prove the case that this is threatening.

This guy was probably hated by everyone in Japan so they sent him to Miami as a way to get him as far away as possible.

In Japan such behaviour is fairly common, sometimes involving physical violence.

But the real question is what can you do?

Firstly you can quit.

Second, you can take industrial action. Try and force him to change how he does things. But he is an asshole, so this won't have that much impact, and he is likely to lose face and do his best to have the ring leaders fired or punished.

3rd, strike to get him fired.

4th, you can try and deal with it in another way. For example, talk to someone who can talk to him. Especially if you can talk a friend of his. Then he might change the way he works as he tries to understand western culture. When going to another country many people find very frustrated and feel culture shock. This can result in irrational anger (I have felt it, but I am mature enough to act like an adult, rather than a 3 year old, like some colleagues).

5th....sue over stress related sufferring, Get lots of money from Japan and then dance around the room when you get the money singing "where no.1"

at the same time as a dogs has diarrhea, their bowels get aggravated and they couldn't stop the diarrhea on their personal lots of the time. that's what my vet recommends for my 3 Labradors at the same time as they have diarrhea: a million. No nutrition for 2 foodstuff. this provides the bowels a probability to get better. The dogs received't starve, in spite of the actual undeniable truth that they are going to be hungry. that's in a large number of cases an major step to get their bowels to stop being infected. 2. Rice on my own for 2 foodstuff. 3. Rice mixed with kibble, including extra kibble and a lot less rice each and anytime for quite a few days. 4. bypass again to kibble. dogs from time to time in basic terms get disillusioned stomachs. It does no longer recommend you should change their nutrition, except they are getting disillusioned stomachs plenty. It does no longer recommend that they have worms, highly in the experience that your dogs is an interior dogs and correctly cared for. ETA: a poster below is nice, and that i forgot, that once you bypass to the vet, you should plan to deliver a stool pattern with you.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do about his yelling. I think it's time you look for another job. Some work environments are "hostile", but that doesn't mean that they're illegal.

He is the boss. I hate to tell you that he can get away with it. I still believe that it is the wrong way of doing it.
