carbonate means CO3 ^2-

chromium(iii) means the oxidation number of chromium of chromium which 's the one can change is +3

so the formula is
Cr2 (CO3)3

I can't type this right, but it's one chromium (Cr) and three carbonates. Carbonate is CO(3)- , where the three is written as a subscript and the minus sign (when carbonate is by itself) is a superscript. To designate three carbonates, you write (CO(3))(3) - parentheses around the whole ion, with a subscript 3 outside the parentheses. Put a good old Cr in front of that, and you've got your symbol.
