I'm just having a hard time wrapping my brain around why someone would pay >$50 to have a show piped into their home so they can watch someone beat the crap out of someone else.

I guess this question really doesn't apply to me, since I'm not planning to watch.

I personally think that boxing and sports that encourage one human being to beat/pummel/otherwise hurt/injure another human being should be outlawed.

We tell children from a young age that hitting and hurting is wrong. Just because it is inside a "ring" does not make it any less wrong. Just because some people find the technical expertise involving in hitting another person to be a talent or skill, does not make it any less of hurting/injuring another person.

The fact that there are referrees does not in any way lessen the truth that the participants are there to inflict harm on each other.

The argument that other sports involve contact and have the possibility for injury as does boxing does not hold water with me. Boxing is one "sport" where the object is to beat your opponent.

If we have laws against people making sport of two roosters duking it out, we should give people the same 'courtesy'--which is an understatement.

If the person(s) involved in the actual boxing survive their careers, they usually are left with multiple disabilities as a direct result of their 'sport.'

There is no way on God's green earth that I would pay to encourage one person to meet another person for the purpose of hurting each other for any amount of time.

I think you really need to get over it. These fighters shake hands and hug after a match, its not anger, its skill. I've trained in martial arts for many years and if you get angry in the ring you usually lose. I am also a christian, a very strong christian, and my wife is as well. Watching things like UFC provides me and some other men like your husband a little adrenal pump that feels good and satisfied a God given need for feeling that testosterone just a little bit. Let him feel what God gave him, let him feel like man and dont try to stop him from being one. If you take away everything he loves, he will feel confined and restricted and THEN become aggressive. If for some reason he gets out of hand because he is too into the UFC stuff and starts to act stupidly, then maybe he should actually step in the ring, that will mellow him out.

UFC only costs me 40 to start off with not 50. Also, if you actually watch the UFC there is a lot of technical stuff going on that most people who do not know martial arts do not realize. It is not always guys beating the crap out of each other, there are always fights featuring two grapplers that are just as fun to watch as two guys slugging it out. If you study martial arts the UFC is very interetsing to watch for a number of reasons. The UFC is also very exciting, people pay a lot more to watch a boxing match constantly and the UFC is a lot more exciting thean boxing by far. I have been watching the UFC since UFC and it is amazing to see how MMA has progressed and how talented and powerful many of todays fights have become.

I personally wouldn't pay for a ppv. But I do get to watch every ppv and love it. Maybe this sport isn't for you. But that doesn't make it no good. It's personal choice. Try watching figure skating, or bowling.
