33 people are dead and people on here have been turning this atrocious incident into a political and racial issue. It's not. He had issues. He was crazy.... and crazy people come in all races and political parties. And the illegal immigrant thing doesn't apply here. He had a green card and purchased the gun legally.

What we all need to focus on is the warning signs that he, as well as other serial killers, have displayed in the past so that we can hopefully prevent something like this from ever happening again.

Don't you agree???

I agree with you! We shouldn't be taking advantage of this tragic event to trash the opposing political party or to chalk it up to racial issues. This guy obviously had major mental health issues, and as you've pointed out, mentally unbalanced people come in all nationalities and political persuasions. I also agree that we should focus more on what drives people to commit such acts and try to do what we can to prevent more tragedies from occurring.

I agree with you, race is irrelevant. All ethnic groups and people have the propensity for violence. It is those of us that have the "off" switch so to speak that do not act out. The warning signs were there but neither the university nor his family did follow up. This according to the English professor who was so worried, she did not want to teach him along with his classmates and wanted him to be taught on his own.
To me, that should have been a "Ding ding ding", get the parents involved and get him into counseling and not the voluntary kind.
Unfortunately, we will never know if that would have prevented this massacre. All the speculation about stricter gun laws as if that would have made a difference, with hindsight being 20/20, I would say, no. I was trying to find out information on an ak-47 for a discussion on guns and came across an ad for an "ak-47 for sale". So unless there is a way to find and eliminate all guns, all the strict gun laws in the world will not stop a determined person from getting one. I mean, look at Japan, they have some of the toughest gun laws in the world yet, it did not prevent the Mayor of Nagasaki from getting shot and killed by a mob boss Tuesday.

I think people have been bringing it up because he was not a citizen of the US. I do not think they mean to make it a race issue. I think some people may try to make it an immigration issue, when of course it is not.
