I give a thumbs up to anyone who makes a logical, intelligent and respectful point...whether I agree with them or not. And incredibly, I've had my opinion changed about a couple of issues based upon those kinds of responses in this forum. For all the crap that gets posted...there are some valid and interesting folks participating.

I agree with you 100%. People should not be scorned or shunned simply because their answers differ from yours. That's what is mostly wrong in the world today. I would give two thumbs up to someone who had a valid and enlightnening point, despite its contrary nature to my own views.

It is very important to listen to dissenting point of views irrespective of how they are delivered. At times, people with strong views on a subject also happen to be abrasive or aggressive. However, I don't allow it to take away from the view put forth by them. It is difficult but comes as one matures.

I do, especially it the argument is put together reasonably.
The ones I don't get are those people who give thumbs down on indisputable facts like " what famous person died in the 1960's- Marilyn monroe" thumbs down.

Yes if its a well reasoned and mature post, I will thumbs up it even if I disagree with the premise. I also thumbs down posts who's sentiment I generally agree with, if they are crude, rude or generally immature.

Have found it slightly frustrating when good counter point is made, because of inability to clarify something, and few times persons remarks were so witty would have loved to given them best witty answer.LOL But how many times did you give them best answer??

I haven't asked many questions, but I do agree with you, as long as their answer is true and non offensive. People don't have to agree with me, I'm happy for them to answer, It's more interesting when someone else has a difference of opinion.

I would say that in the politics it is rare. Most come here to not ask a question but to state a political view and then look for people to agree with them. I see few "questions" here that are really looking for answers. Most are just rants.

Sure, if it is a well thought out and accurate answer without any false assumptions. My opinion is not always correct and sometimes I deserve the thumbs down!
