I am hearing it is a type of weapon used to kill infidels. But, no one has come out with an official translation of the term.

I have not heard anything about him being a Christian but I can explain Ishmael's Axe.
Islam teaches a story similar to the Jewish story of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his son Issac. In the Islamic story it is Ishmael, Abraham's first illegitimate son who Abraham is asked to sacrifice. Abraham was going to kill Ishmael with an axe (hence Ishmael's axe) when God interceded and told Abraham not to sacrifice his son.
