it is only in emergencies that we get religion.

I don't pray cuz it is a fantasy. However, if you aren't gonna bother anyone, go ahead and pray.
Prayer is allowed in school by the way. Close your eyes and pray for a second or two and no one will bother you.
It is ORGANIZED prayer that is not allowed, like what those Christians want.
(They should arm some of the good people. Then they could have shot that nut.)

Seperation of church & state. Think about it, if our gov. regulated religion, who would decide what branch of religion would be taught to our children.Yes I would like prayer in school, but I wouldn't want a muslim teacher teaching my child their religion when we are Christians.
After the masacre at VA Tech, most people will go back to their own lives like you said. But trust me, as a parent with 2 children, I can not forget about all the school killings each & every day my child steps onto the school bus. Every day I pray it won't happen at their school, or anyone elses. May God be with all of our children.

i do no longer pray cuz this would nicely be a fantasy. even if, contained in the shape you do not seem gonna worry someone, bypass ahead and pray. Prayer is authorized in college by the way. close your eyes and pray for a second or 2 and no one will worry you. it truly is prepared prayer it truly is now no longer allowed, like what those Christians favor. (they could could arm between the most nicely persons. Then they could have shot that nut.)

what? you lost me, are you saying that there was prayer so this shouldn't have happened?? and yes it is very sad that they were not prepared enough to act and secure the lives of those people.
If you have noticed, whether people believe in praying or are religious or not most people will pray to someone when disaster strikes...
most of those people would have been saying "please let ..... be alright" they are praying, maybe just to fate but its still a prayer.

well we all go on with our lives. tragedies happen all the time. i'm not going to stop my life every time someone shoots someone or deals drugs or whatever. if i did that my life would be in constant mourning.
as far as school prayer. image if you were made to pray to 20 different gods, or a tree spirit or something every day. would you like it? Just because you have the minorty religion in this country doesnt mean we all have to suffer and be forced to believe like you. It could have just taken one little event in history to be different and you could be worshipping a lava god for all you know. get over yourselves. I dont want to believe or worship like you, dont force me. its not your right! i dont want to hear it, i dont want to see it, i dont want anything to do with it. keep it in your churches!

Prayer doesn't solve anything, but it does make people feel better. That's why most people were praying after this incident.
The police are hardened to murder. They watch too many TV shows, and get involved in 'solving' a 'story' instead of keeping their minds open and trying to protect people.
A little of our patriarchal society shows up too, in that police don't care when they are able to brand something a 'domestic dispute' as men who kill their wives/girlfriends get a free pass from the police.
