I'm 12 weeks post-op (right inguinal open mesh surgery). I still have hypersensitivity in my right testicle and a twisting/burning sensation in spots throughout the whole area--from the incision into the groin and in the testicle.

The only way I can do any exercise using my legs is to use neurontin, but I don't want to have to use a drug for the rest of my life. I stopped taking it two days ago (after 6 weeks) and now realize that any lessening of pain was directly attributable to the drug, not to anything improving in my body. I have the same pain that I had before I started taking neurontin.

Has anyone had 12 weeks of nerve or testicular pain that went away on its own? If not, has it gone away and how?

I'm not real optimistic at this point.

Thanks.

It takes a LONG time for you to feel completely back to normal after that kind of surgery. I had it 6 years ago and I can still sometimes feel it, not bad or anything, but can still feel the effects. It's brutal surgery, and next time if I have to have it again will do the laproscopic (sp) instead. See your doctor, they can probably help with the pain in some way.
