When will this stop? I mean, yeah people now blame it on the car, the McLaren is now faster, more reliable.
Dont they realise that (and this is what Ron Dennis said) most of the improvements in F1 cars are thanks to great drivers that can test the car and "sense" what's wrong, this also requires some technical knowledge.
This is why drivers like Senna, Schumacher, Prost and now Alonso (I dont know about Hamilton) were so good and improved their cars so much. They were almost like mechanics, always getting involved with the development of the car.
This is why at least Alonso (and probably Hamilton too) have helped improve the car so much.
Ron Dennis himself compared Alonso (about two days ago) with Ayrton Senna and Prost in that sense.
Will people finally admit it's not just the car?

Remember Schumacher in the formerly declining team Ferrari?
Remember Alonso in the new, low budget team Renault?

I have thought Alonso is one of the best drivers on grid for the last couple years. However, I will also be the first to admit that I may have undervalued him as I have been quite amazed at the transformation of Mclaren since his arrival.
I am not sure he is quite the best driver in terms of just the driving portion (and that may well prove to be Hamilton very soon), but Alonso has managed to get the entire team on the same page and working together. This is a trait we saw with drivers like Senna and Prost, and more recently with Michael Schumacher.
It's also interesting to observe that while Mclaren seem to have been able to solve alot of those little nagging problems in testing, now Renault are having problems nailing down those little problems (in a car which I am sure is otherwise quite capable).
I do think Mclaren have one of the two best cars on grid right now, though Alonso deserves a great deal of credit for the fact that they have a car working that well.
I don't know how much Lewis Hamilton has contributed here. Some perhaps, but I think this is an area where his lack of experience in F1 would hinder him at the moment. But there is no doubt that he is a unique talent and that as good as his start has been, the best is probably yet to come.

The car plays a huge part. I was luck enough to meet Alonso at his first F1 race years ago when he was racing for Minardi. His Technical expertise is much underrated. He used to be his own mechanic and help other people in that department when he was in karts. But the car does make a huge difference. There are probably three cars that are capable of winning a race in their own right this year. Alonso has to meet a higher standard then everybody before him because he is a double world champion at the age of 25. He is not a good as Schumacher or Senna were in this department, but that could change over the next 10 years or so. People just don't want to admit that Alonso is an incredibly talented driver

In F1, to succeed, you need more than just a good driver or a good car. You need BOTH of them. Besides having a good driver and a good car, good luck is needed. Motivation and the will to succeed is needed. There are some drivers who actually are better than we think. Sometimes they are just too lazy to push harder for more speed or are too confident or are too easily satisfied with a point or two.
Some people think that the reason why Lewis is performing extremely well and so impressive is because he has such a good car with pace. However, he has actually proven that he is a good driver. I'm sure that he'll make the best out of any car that he is given. Plus, it's so easy to forget that he's only a rookie when you just watch him drive (even if it's your first time watching him).
But despite all three podium finishes in the races so far, he still has a lot to prove to people watching him on the race track. True, he's put up very strong and solid performances so far but it's only been three races. He has to remain consistently on top.
As for Alonso, he seems to be able to handle the pressure he's under by Lewis. He is also a two-time world champion, as well as the youngest driver in history to become a world champion. His driving is no doubt, very good and his race strategics always work out right. He is one of the best (or the best) drivers currently in F1. There were a few times last year (when he was still with Renault) when he had some mechanical failures and car problems but yet he managed to still lead the world championship comfortably.
This year though, Alonso is facing competition from his rookie teammate Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen. These three talented drivers are now in a three-way tie in the drivers' championship. This is only Lewis' first year in F1 and he's already one of the three leading the championship! There's no way to deny that he's truly amazingly spectacular.
It's obvious from Lewis and Alonso's performances that it's not just the car that's the winning factor- it's because they are both good and competitive. Plus, when they are both so good, they'll surely feel the need to outdo each other. It's a healthy sort of competition if they don't try to overtake each other in a race and mess it up by banging each other out of the race.

I see your point and Schumacher actually WAS a mechanic during his early years, and could give actual engineering feedback on the cars. I don't know what your talking about when you say Alonso has this, Alonso has no clue about how the cars work and so gives very limited feedback. He didn't help improve the car, ron Dennis improved it so that he could see his 'kid' who he spent millions of dollars on succeed. Alonso giving technical feedback, HA HA you have to be joking. He can probably manage 'De card vas hahbing some understeer.' Like what he said last weekend in Bahrain.

I completely agree with you.
Alonso has great technocal skills. Another thing is that the man is a motivator and a leader. If there is a man who commands attention and motivates others, it must be Alonso.
Due to his leadership, charm, and motivation, the engineers at McLaren have really put their hard work to make the car better.
Otherwise we ask, where was McLaren last year? The year before that? See?
While a lot has to do with the car...a machine is useless without human input.
So I agree with you.

It is never just the car!
It is the car, the tyres, the team, the strategy and the driver.
When one or two of them are not up to the mark, then it is up to a great driver to improve his performance to make up for that shortcoming.
What happened to Alonso in Bahrain, had a fast car and managed to be undone by Heidfeld?

Everyone knows its not just the car(except if the car was rubbish and the driver won the race).Actually,They didn't help with the development of their cars, their TEST DRIVERS did.Test drivers are so unappreciated these days...but its THEM that helped make the winning car itself.
But Ferrari have this championship in their hands!!!

I accept as true with you. i'm no longer denying the validity of the Holocaust or the "6 million killed," yet i ought to favor to ascertain those archives. i'm informed that the Nazis kept meticulous archives of deaths contained in the most concentration camps...yet i ought to favor to ascertain them myself. possibly the form got here about a similar way the Rwandan genocide style did: estimates from businesses in instant collaboration with the country itself. some authorities nonetheless do not agree on the precise volume killed even with the actuality that. i don't recognize if there's a itemizing of Tutsi killed, even if it form of sounds like a lot of human beings have a tendency to trust that style. yet i'm interior a similar boat with you: I question it, and that i'm categorized antisemitic to boot. i imagine that's because human beings favor to trust what they have been taught...or perhaps straying away somewhat from their teachings scare them, so as that they label you because the "anti" man or woman as a protection mechanism. that's in basic terms about like being stated as unchristian in case you probably did not vote Republican (own journey!) or racist in case you start up speaking about equivalent rights. human beings like their worlds all smartly wrapped up, and if someone is wondering the wrapping or attempting to challenge outdoors of that container...nicely, that isn't do in any respect.
