If whales swam in smaller areas like we do in swimming pools they would soon learn to lose weight and have more room ! In the oceans they can afford to be bigger !

Who said whales are 'fat'???
They are in perfect shape--for whales.
Whales need their blubber to insulate against the cold of the oceans, since they are mammals and not fish.

because whales tranform food into blubber giving their very large bodes insulation from the cold water - this lets them be very large and thus the kings of the ocean

To make it great straight forward, they like it. The fat keeps them heat. and that they are actually not obese, all of them are the suitable weight they might desire to be. they're mammals and breathe air, and prefer us want heat temperature.
