I've noticed that the Cooling Engine Fan seems to come on a lot on my Fiesta Zetec 1.25, it is fairly noisey! The car seems to hold temperature, although is it normal for my fan to be in operation for so long. No other car i've owned uses the fan as much as this fiesta. I'd prefer it if it wouldn't use my fan so much. It doesn't seem to make much of a difference if I am driving at 30/40 with low revs on empty roads of if i'm in traffic - it still comes on.

Also i've recently had the head gasket changed, but the fan has always come on before this problem started and I'm fairly sure that the problem isn't related.

I've also had a new Water Pump. Someone has also recommended to me to reset the ECU (whatever that is).

Your radiator is probably clogged. It would make the fan run all the time and overheat the engine and blow the head gasket.

Just a thought, what was the reason for your head gasket going? Was it overheating by any chance?

I'm just thinking, the two things together might imply that you have a cooling problem, perhaps a blocked radiator or failing water pump.

this sounds like a cooling system running to hot and will soon fail. the fan is compensating and keeping the engine from overheating. you said that the temp seems normal. if when the fan is on to often, then cold prestone will go into the moter and the temp guage will drop alot then come back up. system inspections are usually free. if the system fails it may cost a motor. if i knew more about your problem i could be more sure of my answer

when your head gasket was changed did you have oil in the water? and is it a cross flow radiator? if yes and this contaminant was not completely removed it's going to restrict the flow through the radiator. steam cleaning and dishwasher powder are used in the trade to break down the oil.

no its normal for a fiesta to do this cause of been a smaller engine with smaller radiator for cooling so it needs cooler air more often

It could be a faulty temperature sensor.
