...dictate to us the "right" ways because they are scared of what the dont know, or do they think that god would only give direction to the earlyest people? and if god were to hand out brains, couldnt the last ones be the best, most efficient? Maybe it is good to be late sometimes.

The newer generation always has more knowledge than the generation before them. However, the older generation ahs more wisdom, which, in a lot of way, is more useful.

I think that the older generation has lived through things that the younger generation has not yet encountered. Because of this, the older generation is simply trying to pass on their knowledge in the attempt that it would save the younger generation from any unnecessary heartbreak and suffering.

As part of the older generation, all we can do is leave the knowledge we have gained with the younger generation. Ultimately, it is their choice to take into consideration an option that might make their lives easier or ignore it altogether.

One of the reason why older people have regrets as they get older is that they wish they could go back and do things differently. They wish they had the knowledge and wisdom they have now back then. The younger generation helps the older generation by offering up fresh ideas, but the older generation helps the younger generation by putting their thoughts in perspective. Beware of generational bias; we both have helpful things to offer to the other.

The reason the older generation tries to tell the younger generation these things is to keep you from making the same mistakes they made.

It is to keep you form the heartache or sorrow..not because we think we are more intelligent or anything like that.

It is because we have already been where you are and we know the feelings all too well...and when you care about someone you try and keep them from going through these same things.

The "Older" generation not only lived in the past, but have accumulated knowledge right through the ages. Do you think they stop learning new things? Do you think they hit the age of 25 and just shut everything around them out? No. Wise people in older generations learn what knowledge remains valuable and what can be discarded through experience.

No thats not why they do that. Its because all of us who are (considerably) older recognize a lot of risks that you dont yet see.We try to keep you young people from making mistakes that could hurt you one way or another. We know that you only listen part of the time and think we dont know what we are talking about BUT, lol, sometimes we do.

I think the trick is to try to adhere to the safety "rules"--esp. those that make sense--drugs that impair judgement and create addiction. Try to think of the long-term consequences of your actions and most of all, be very aware that there are always consequences for every action!! Old and young. Some risk is always necessary--not necessarily physical risk, but since change is always with us, we always have decisions to make. Most of all, accept the consequences you have "chosen" and develop the skill needed to evaluate, remediate and chose better choices. It's your life! Don't blame it on someone else.
