cause they have nothing better to do in their sad, meaningless lives.

maximum have not got a issue with Harry Potter in any respect, incredibly on condition that he's on the reliable element interior the books. an extremely vocal minority is confident that youngsters will develop into devil worshippers in the event that they examine Harry Potter. this is the comparable people who theory heavy steel and Dungeons and Dragons might warp youngster's minds. I honestly have a feeling those human beings are not in touch with actuality in any respect. To be truthful, Harry Potter won't be applicable for 3 year olds (till they're incredibly hardcore infants, perhaps)- via no skill interior the greater moderen videos. they're especially frightening.

This is because there are certain facts in Harry Potter books going against the beliefs of certain religious groups. For example, the existence of spirits as described in the book. You should keep in mind that blind belief is the key to follow a religion and people reading the book are compelled to question the validity of their religion, This is why these groups try to condemn it, without realising that they are going against what they themselves teach: that every man has the right to do what he wants because he is equal to everybody in society.

Emilie, some Christian denominations are ulta-strict and see everything as either sinful or evil,I think they go to far with this myself but that is their way, of course dabbling in the occult is always wrong but as for Harry Potter I don`t feel that it is evil, it seems to be more of the usual theme of Good versus Evil, and there have been many books written on the subject,i.e Lion,Witch and the Wardrobe to name but one.

For the same reason they think Wiccans are Satanists and "evil", and for the same reason I think Harry Potter books describe a RHP version of witchcraft, "good vs evil", he is the "good guy" and all that. Everything that has to do with the occult is evil, according to these groups.

Stupid even to think a book is Evil. I think that whole RELIGIONS are pure Evil. Just look at real life the amount of terror and pain and wars that goes on in this world all to do with religion, and they still think there GOD love them. And they go on about a childrens book. I think they all need to sit down and re-think just how great these religions are befor they pass comments on things like this.

Its probably because of the characters they use like wizards and witches and the practise of magic etc....these are condemned in most religious groups. But you are right they show an example of good and evil and morality and people should be able to see that if theyve read it.

There is a cathlic school near where I study, and that has banned any people who talk abou it. You get an instant detention if you are cought with the book on premesis.
This is way over the top, its just a novel, and is fantasy. It doesnt even show you how to do the spells properly.

Could be because it flies in the face of their beliefs.
If reading a book that contains wizardry, and dark arts should be forbidden, then the reading of the Bible should suffer the same fate. Has Tolkein´s novels earned the same title?
It makes you laugh that christians say that God has given man the freedom of choice, but they themselves want to take that right away. Do they see themselves as superior to God?

It's all to do with sorcery and casting spells...A big No No to the god botherers of this world. Some people just need to lighten up and enjoy the books for what they are, a good fun read for kids of all ages from very young to the very very old.
