One can be the nicest person and the best neighbor around bu that will not assure one second of eternal life. I have gone to many Watchtower meetings and to be honest, they have nothing to offer. I have never heard one request for prayer, not one tear to be shed for someone who is hurting. All I heard was indoctrination. To be baptist as a Jehovah's witness, one has to take several weeks of their "Bible studies" which rapidly turn into the WT book studies and then answer a lot of questions the way the WT wants.
Strange, in Acts, many were saved and then they were baptized immediately....did not have to study or take and pass any test.
Eternal life is not obtained by gaining knowledge of GOD...it is obtained by having a relationship with HIM. See the link below

If you have a crowd of JWs as neighbors you will, indeed, benefit from many things, as you stated. We have two JW families close by and they are no trouble, which we appreciate. We are not JWs, and we are no trouble either, but I'm sure they're not interested in that.
However, we notice their reaction to a couple who used to be JWs but left. One JW man refuses to respond to their polite "Good morning/afternoon" greetings but pats their dogs in passing! Children of the JWs (those who have not left home - at a very early age, I note) look suspiciously at this couple and avoid them. Wonder what they've been told? I don't know what's going on there, but I get the impression that JWs will be lovely neighbors just as long as you don't disagree strongly with them. So, keep on being tactful, don't rock the boat, and all will be well!

Hooray for an opportunity to say something nice about Jehovah's Witnesses! They truly are law-abiding, sincere and honest people and they uphold Bible principles of morality. Even though I disagree profoundly with what they believe, we are fortunate to live in countries that uphold freedom of speech and freedom of worship. Long may that continue.
What is there not to like, the last bit of the question, boils down their insistence that they, and only they, have the truth, and that everyone who disagrees with them, is wrong. Such breathtaking arrogance! I've noticed on the R & S site that JW's have a tendency to get questions removed when they don't like what other people say about them. A recent example is the question asked by theBerean to JW's on Do You Think For Yourself? To have the question removed suggests the answer to the question must be "No"! The R & S site is a two-way street and everyone is entitled to their opinions. Otherwise there would be nothing to debate, would there? Let's keep this channel of communication open by respecting the opinions of others. We can always agree to disagree.

It seems that the name Jehovah, just makes people want to run the other way, also, I think because we do not want to participate in drunken bouts, and immorality, a lot of people feel comfortable with their belief system, and do not want to hear that the way they worship may very well be unacceptable to Jehovah. Many people fear change, and when Bible truth is learned, the realization that certain behaviors are unacceptable to Jehovah, is a hard pill to swallow, many like the way they live. But behaviors, like drunkeness, getting High', immorality, dishonesty, smoking, etc. are ways of life, that some people actually enjoy, I must admit, I sure didn't like that lifestyle, and when I learned Bible truth, and began trusting in the name of Jehovah, it was indeed a "strong tower in which to run to for safety" from all the world's woes. Proverbs 18:10

Thank you for your most kind words. We are all those things because we follow what the Bible says, and try to please God and the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do.
No, we are not perfect. But we have a high sensitivity about doing things God's way, and basing our beliefs and practices on the Holy Bible.
Even when people do not want to listen to us, we do our best to observe their wishes and their rights. Yet, our public preaching is in fulfillment of the command of the Lord Jesus Christ to "Go, preach...." Doing this from door-to-door as the apostles of Jesus did is not the only way to do it, of course, but it has proven to be still effective, along with other methods.
I have the perspective of having been an Evangelical Baptist before becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I do not agree that our meetings are spiritless, or that we indoctrinate anyone. Everyone who is one of Jehovah's Witnesses is one voluntarily, and most of us are happy in our worship and our service.
In most things, we share the same concerns as other people, and are just regular folks. We do, however, keep in mind the Bible counsel to "do all things for God's glory."
Thanks again, your post made my day.

A few things. One thing is misinformation. Some times people base their feelings on us on rumors/stories they have heard on what we believe that are not true. Other times people seem to forget that we are Humans with Bibles, not Bibles with legs. We have individual personalities. We just try to live as the Bible teaches.
Another reason is some people see our striving to do the right thing as an insult to them, if we decide to not do something they like.

Thanks.
I am a foreigner in this city and racism is common. But when I became a JW that does not happen with them. Be they Americans, Africans, Austrians, Japanese, Turkish, Slovaks, and many other cultural backgrounds.
I guess that's what brotherly love is.
“By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.”—JOHN 13:35.
Oh, and we dont participate in wars!

The Bible says that we have to gain accurate knowledge of the truth to build our faith. And how else can someone have faith without studying the Scriptures? That's why Jehovah's Witnesses are adviced to read from the Bible daily.
"This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ." -- John 17:3
"This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Savior, God, whose will is that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth." -- 1 Thimothy 2:3,4
And this is what I continue praying, that YOUR love may abound yet more and more with accurate knowledge and full discernment." -- Philippians 1:9
"... you must inculcate them in your son and speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up." -- Deuteronomy 6:7
Jehovah's Witnesses try to manifest the fruitage of the spirit.
"On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law." -- Galatians 5:22,23
"Indeed, as the body without spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead." -- James 2:26
The Bible says that Jesus' true disciples will be hated by the world.
"Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name." -- Matthew 24:9
