If Jesus came to save humanity from their sins, including the sins passed down through the generations from Adam and Eve, why did he take so long?

Think of all the innocent people who were sent to hell and torment for years becaquse they may have done nothing more wrong than be decended from A&E.

What about the people who stole a loaf or bread from a wealthy baker to feed their starving family? Did they do to hell too?

And the people who happened to like other people of the same sex but treated everyone else with dignity and respect? Did they go to hell too? Oh, wait... i forgot... they still go to hell, don't they? Such a tolerant religion.

Since the fall of man, the basis of salvation has always been the death of Christ. No one, either prior to the cross or since the cross, would ever be saved without that one pivotal event in the history of the world. Christ's death paid the penalty for past sins of Old Testament saints and future sins of New Testament saints.
The requirement for salvation has always been faith. The object of one's faith for salvation has always been God. The psalmist wrote, "Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him" (Psalm 2:12). Genesis 15:6 tells us that Abraham believed God and that was enough for God to account it to him for righteousness (see also Romans 4:3-8). The Old Testament sacrificial system did not take away sin, as Hebrews 9:1-10:4 clearly teaches. It did, however, point to the day when the Son of God would shed His blood for the sinful human race.
What has changed through the ages is the content of a believer's faith. God's requirement of what must be believed is based on the amount of revelation He has given mankind up to that time. This is called progressive revelation. Adam believed the promise God gave in Genesis 3:15 that the Seed of the woman would conquer Satan. Adam believed Him, demonstrated by the name he gave Eve (v.20) and the Lord indicated His acceptance immediately by covering them with coats of skin (v.21). At that point that is all Adam knew, but he believed it.
Abraham believed God according to the promises and new revelation God gave him in Genesis 12 and 15. Prior to Moses, no Scripture was written, but mankind was responsible for what God had revealed. Throughout the Old Testament, believers came to salvation because they believed that God would someday take care of their sin problem. Today, we look back, believing that He has already taken care of our sins on Calvary (John 3:16; Hebrews 9:28).

All this is based on the assumption there actually is a hell. I personally believe people are judged on their character and life. Not on which religion you chose to follow. Every christian religion is based on an interpretation of the same book. To para-phrase the movie Dogma; Have ideas, not beliefs. You can change and idea. Its a lot harder to change a belief.

Well, first..God's timing is not our timing...People everywhere have felt a tug from the Lord,,it is called conscience,,when stealing,,I know for myself before I knew what it was even,,I felt it was wrong to take when things didn't belong to me...My family has seen what it is to not eat so many times,,it never crossed my mind to steal so my family could eat,,so are we to be tolerant to others who steal to eat,,no,,man does not live by bread only,,but by the Word of the Lord...
We can't measure our goodness by what men think,,we have a God who judges all that...Don't think yourself as good when it says there is no good in flesh...It is the heart God looks at,not your fleshly desires..
We as Christains should never be tolerant of sin but of people yes..
If you try to justify everything in life by your standards,,then you will truly never see the Love that Jesus has for you...You have already put yourself as a god,,thinking your ways are ok...

Christ died for EVERYBODY. Not just those that lived after His death on the cross. Christ died to forgive sin. It doesn't say that He died to forgive just the sins of those that took His name in vane, or only for people that told lies. He died to forgive all sorts of people with all sorts of sins. The thing to try to do is to turn from sin, stop the sin you have committed. If I confess a sin/s and ask forgiveness but go right back and willing do the same thing over and over, how serious was I when I asked for forgiveness?

God had a plan that you can easily discern when you read the Bible,to know the Good News of the Gospel clearly you need to understand the Bad News first, that is contained in the book of Genesis.
If you read the Gospels you will find that after His death Christ desended to that place of the dead to preach His Gospel to the spirits of the dead.
