It does appear that way. I'm beginning to think that Heaven will be full of murderers, rapists and paedophiles whilst all the decent people are in Hell

on the topic of religion I will first and foremost say that honestly I am honestly an atheist, so my answer may seem a bit biased to you... but I do believe that it is... some things just cannot be solved by simply religion, or used as an excuse for so, and if you were truly religious you'd not use it as an excuse for anything and see to it with your own judgment or actions on any receiving consequences

Religious people (Christians) are taught to "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" - in other words, follow the laws of the land. It doesn't absolve us from the eternal punishment, either.
So the answer is "no" - that is, if you are a Christian.

Nothing is free not even Heaven as Christ gave his life to enable us to inherit eternal life, there is always a price to be paid, you could put it that Christ is our stay out of Hell card, but yes I do agree with you that so many use their religion for their own purposes and gain, but there will still be a price for them to pay too.

No. Religion is not a license to sin. Sin is just that-sin. Sin is wrong for the non christian and Christian alike. Religion shows that we should repent of our sins. Ask for forgiveness. And, try to sin no more. Jesus came to earth mainly because of sin...to forgive it. God is no fool. He knows if you are serious or not when you seek forgiveness. All people sin,. One sin is enough to damn a person. Religion/Jesus offers a way to be forgiven When a person is forgiven he/she needs to live like they are forgiven too.

I don't think there are many murderers rapists or the like who said "God made me do it" or "I do it in the name of religion" walking around freely. Or at least i wouldn't like to think so
