After death, What?
This one question is the one, that makes you stop and seek to understsand what life is.

Life and death are the two sides of a coin..it is the duality of everything, that makes one believe, if there is a creation, there must be a creator, God.

Katha Upanishad exclusively deals with the question, "After death, what?"

Bhagawad Gita teaches on what life is.
The second chapter, giving the summary of all the 700 verses.
And, as to the 'help' you are seeking, there are plenty.
You can read Bhagawad Gita, and many similar sacred texts, from learned scholars.
"“Death is a question Nature puts continually to Life, and her reminder to it that it has not yet found itself.”
-Sri Aurobindo

For ages, the best of philosophers have tried to unfold the mystery of life and death, but have failed to do so. Even today, with the best scientist and high tech, we still wait for our death, not knowing where or when ?

Life after death can neither be proved nor disproved. This is because one would have to undergo physical death in order to prove or disprove it (and by its very nature, disproving it would not be possible). This is in contrast to something like astrology where one could undertake a study of people born at the same time and evaluate their personality traits and life outcomes at a later time to see if there is any correlation with time of birth.

There is no actual direct evidence against an afterlife - only arguments refuting the specific examples of evidence for life after death as not being sufficient proof. Although it can easily be argued that not having direct knowledge of an afterlife constitutes evidence against life after death. Life after death cannot be disproven; only the evidence in its favour can be scrutinized and rational non-believers are left to make the conclusion that life after death cannot be proven.

To take your question further - How is it going to alter your life if you realise that there is nothing absolutely after death?
So many known to me have died and none have ever come back to this world as far as I know (though most of them would have contacted me first if they were reborn) - so I know that death definitely eliminates finally the identity and personality of a person in this world. However this consciousness hardly ever influences any of the decisions I take in my daily life. Do you think you can be different?

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

its almost certain that when you die thats it for you. you body may get eaten by bugs or chopped up by medical students and you time on this earth may have left memories and items you have created for other people to see - but for you personally life ends.
true there could be something else - we could all be in a matrix like world - but we will never know so people might as well stop waisting time assuming they know the answer.
