car engine works from the knowledge I had at the time. Then you come along 2000 years later and explain that I wasn't correct about that because I didn't know any better at the time. I would shake your hand and thank you for your intelligence and progression on the matter. Why do religious people not have the same logical and embracing thought process?

flandarg…-sigh...No one said was no god, just the probability of there being one is tiny. A belief system that hasn't changed or been updated in 2000 years surely cannot be correct as opposed to theories which keep getting updated as when new evidence comes to light.

A car engine is much better as an example, then religious philosophy. How much philosophy would Jesus have taught, if he had to work two jobs, just to feed Mary and keep the kids in daycare.
Things happen when they should, and looking back or forward is never a true picture.

Scenario: The vaccine to prevent small pox was developed a long time ago. Medical science has progressed a lot since that time but, is the vaccine still relevant? Does it still work? Same thing with a knife. No matter how old the knife is, it will still cut. It's use is still relevant today just as it was when it was made. God is still relevant.

Very interesting. There are people who don't have the logic side of the brain geared like yours. Sorry this is so short and I can't remember if it's the left or right side of the brain which deals with logic; it's 4:52 A.M. Your theory is interesting anyway.

We do, the problem is that there hasnt been a significant religious event in nearly 2000 years. Automobiles change every couple years. Why do we still study Newtons concepts of Calculus. Its because they are right.

And now this other person now knows better?
And you call us Christians simple-minded, a one-track mind, and unable to think?
I assume you are talking about macroevolution. Have you realized that that is just another hypothesis without ANY SCIENTIFIC VALIDITY?
And please do not use microevolution to prove macroevolution : the latter is merely an extrapolation of the former.
But since this other person now THINKS he knows better, his hypothesis rests on the same level as mine : both require faith to accept. So, why should I shake his hand and thank him?

Can I respond with a question? LOL just did. I get your question, and sometimes I ask it. But, (here it goes, no attack on you ment) Darwin created evolution, then became a christian before he died, renounced his whole belief for the truth. Yet people still follow what he said was wrong?
Just a thought?

Because, most people don't have "logical and embracing thought process[es]". For one reason or another (early training, etc.) they're obedient to an authority, and it's in authority's interest to keep them that way. And part of authority's method of keeping them that way is to convince them that being ignorant is, literally, bliss.

They can't handle the fact that an Atheist is actually right. That would mean we are smarter than them, because we saw the light first.
