I dont understand why marriage is so pushed for in the Christian faith. God wants us to worship and glorify Him and Him alone, there shall be no idols. So why does this marriage thing exist? It takes away our attention from our Savior and places our time, thoughts, efforts into pleasing another human. Isn't that kinda like idolizing in a situation once removed? I have a hard time understanding the whole marriage concept this days as everyone seems to be unhappy and unGodly in their relationships. The world is full of unhappy people who turn to other unhappy people to fill their emptiness when they should be turning to our Savior for the only kind of unconditional love they can ever receive. Is our current idea of marriage miscontrued?

When God created Adam he said its not right for a man to be alone, and when you marry you make a Vow to God. Now im sure you know not to break a promise well ts not good to break a vow to god.

In conclusion thats why you marry and thats why you stay married

Marriage is a social thing as well as a religious thing. If you are married you should stay married (and Paul says if you aren't married you shouldn't seek to be, just his advice though).

But if you are married, then I'm very thankful for the Christian spin on the importance of marriage as defined by Jesus Himself. I feel like it provides a lot of protection for women.

To begin with, God ordained marriage for a reason. You have a very negative view of marriage it appears. I have been happily married for over 32 years now, and God gave me my husband, to love him, and for all the reasons which we vowed to each other at our wedding. Marriage is instituted because in it children can be born into a family and God's intention is that they are brought up in the nurture of the Lord.
Marriage is a wonderful thing, when God's values are held.

the reason some marrages are failing now a days is because they take God out of thier lives and also the lack of communication between the partners. if you want to live a single life then all you will have in your life is just God which
is better. epecially when your tryng to resolve your live from past and present mistakes.

Christians think highly of marriage because Jesus did, and He is who we follow. You can read what he thought about it in Matthew 19.

Later followers of Christ taught that a Godly marriage is a reflection of the unity between Christ and His church. Just as Christ leads and shows sacrificial care for His church, a Godly husband cherishes his wife. Just as the church submits to and respects Christ, a Godly wife honors her husband.

The God of the Bible does not seek to turn us into little autonomous individual God-worship units as if He needed a Matrix-like worship factory to crank out praise. He desires that we enjoy him _together_, in community with one another. Marriage is simply one of many contexts in which we can serve God as we serve each other.

It's really just for society, to be able to claim some one as yours to keep others away. If you keep questioning you will find the truth. You will no longer have to "believe" what you are told but will know for yourself. Alot of what is taught has nothing to do with God, but with greed. ~ : )

If you are a good Christian you won't have sex until you are married. Is that not a good enough reason?

But marriage wasn't so important that Jesus partook in it. Or did he?
