There is a girl I have been talking to for about a month. She works at a store I shop at regularly. Through our conversations, I learned that she speaks fluent German, Spanish, Croatian, and English (of course).
Last week when I was in the store she came up behind me and grabbed my arm and said "hi" and asked what I was up to. When I left the store, I waved at her from across the store and she waved back. It was her birthday last week, so I learned how to write happy birthday in Croatian and wrote it on the receipt she gave me when I checked out.
She read it and smiled and told me I even spelled everything right. She then started to write me a note in Croatian, but said "I better not" and took her note back and crumpled it up before she gave it to me. Then she told me to learn something else in Croatian and write her another note.
I think she likes me, but maybe is intimidated by the fact that I am older than her (Im 23 she is 19). I'm confused about why she didn't give me hernote

She probably likes you too, at least from you've said about your exchanges it sounds like she does. She probably just feels shy and doesn't want to come on too strongly for you. The next time you go in, just ask her if she would like to go have coffee sometime. I don't think she is intimidated by your age, otherwise I don't think that she would physically be touching you (i.e when she grabbed your arm). Just get your courage up, and go for it.

I think she wants you to make the first move, I mean she took her time to write you a letter,that should count a lot,even though you dont know want the letter reads,she also asked you to write her a letter in Croatian,maybe she is hoping that if you cant tell her to her face that you like her maybe you will put it in writing.

Sounds like she may have written something a little racy. She is probably unsure if you are interested. Sometimes you have to be obvious when it's called for. It sounds like she is waiting for you to ginve her the "signal" that tells her it is safe for her to flirt back. Or she could have written something that you never would have figured out. Try flirting in English. Next time you are shopping give her your number on the back of the receipt and make it clear that you are willing to talk to her in any language...she will more than likely reciprocate the feeling.

You two sound very cute ... and obviously interested in one another!!
Your age gap isn't too big, but with her being the younger one she may just feel a bit intimidated. At the same time, she may not think you are that interested in her.
I would say continue doing sweet things for her and show her that you like her.
When the time comes, you should be ready to make something out of it!!

I think it could possibly be that she is "maybe involved" with someone. She probably likes your attention and has a flirty crush on you. By her saying "I better not" to me, sounds as if she should not put herself in a confusing situation, otherwise...bad situation. Maybe she wants you to write her again because she is starting to fall for you and wants to make sure that her feelings are right before she does anything she regrets.
The other thing that I think she may feel or is thinking, maybe she doesn't know your situation? Have you talked to her about being single? She may feel that you could possibly be involved and doesn't want to interfere or would like to flirt a little more so she could figure out if you are single.
I would like (if I were her) for you to write a note saying something like, If you aren't seeing anyone would you like to go out to dinner sometime... or something along those lines so that she know YOU are SINGLE. Now if she is involved with someone it will let her know that you are interested and if she wants to pursue you more and feels she would like to get to know you more then it also gives her the opportunity.

maybe she likes you but is afraid to make an advancement. let her know how you feel and then let it go from there. take it slow...it will pay off! Learn how to say i like you in croatian. write it down on your next receipt. good luck!
you can also say it in german : "ich wirklich wie sie"
or spanish: "yo realmente como usted"

I dont think its the age because thats not that big of a gap there maybe she's just not ready to get into a relationship for some reason, try asking her out and see what happens you dont have anything to lose

I've done something very similar to that before, and it wasn't 'cause I was intimidated... it was because I was shy. Yes, it does sound like she likes you... and I think you're doing all the right things. Keep steady with that and give her some more time.
