I have 2 dual voice coil MTX T5512-44 12" subs (4ohm each). Along with that, I also bought 1 MTX mono block Thunder 5601 amp (2 or 4 ohm stable).

Now, for my question....

The subs are both 300RMS, 4 ohms each. The amp is 300 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms / 600 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms.

What I am lost on is since this is not a single coil sub will it still work with this setup? If so, how would I need to wire it.

Thanks

With that amplifier and subwoofer combination, the best you can do is wire the subs for a 4-ohm load. While this won't provide all the power that the subs are rated for, it may still get loud enough for your needs. You won't endanger a subwoofer by connecting it to an amplifier rated for less power than the sub, despite what some will tell you.

Use this wiring configuration to end up with a 4-ohm load:

I'm not sure why Javin is suggesting you should cut the power handling of the subs in half, then connect them to a full 600 watts. IMO you're better off using both voice coils and sending each sub 150 watts, if you want to keep the subs undamaged.

The only way would be to wire one VC from each speaker to the amp. This will load the amp @2Ohms. The power handling of the subs will be cut in half b/c your only using 1 VC from each.
You need either a 2 channel amp for the subs, or dual 2Ohm subs for that amp.

Good Luck!
