I have a Korean marinade that involves wine and ginger, both tenderizers....however, I would prefer to cut it up into strips before marinating and then stir fry the meat with veggies. My boyfriend wants it grilled with rice and kimchee, since that is how he had it as a child. I am assuming the meat will not be too tough if it marinades for 16 hours before grilling over high heat. Most people seem to cook round steak on the stove, slowly. I am not a steak person at all and just need some advice.

Basically, would it taste better marinated and stir fried or marinated and grilled? Or about the same either method?

Never mind...they both involve high heat...I don't see what the difference would be.

Add a little MSG to your marinade and you'll probably be ok. Rice Wine Vinegar or lemon or wine will add the acidity you need to break down the fibrous parts of the steak. Add some garlic, sesame seed oil, ginger, and you have a nice tasting piece of meat! If you are attempting to cook this dish for your boyfriend, then go ahead and grill it. Sear the meat over a high heat and then move from direct heat to finish cooking. Fibrous cuts of meat often need longer cooking times to become tender, but also consider cutting it with the grain when you slice it later.

If you marinate it, that will help. When you grill it, make sure you grill it slowly, that also will help the tenderness. It still won't be as tender as a rib eye steak, but it will be better than it would have been without the marinating. Good luck!

If you slice it very thin, it should be tender stir fried too, but personally I would prefer it grilled.

It depends on what you're marinating it in. If you marinate it in something acidic then it will help tenderize it. Also, salt tenderizes.
