In our state it is 3 years, but some states want it done every year..Totally unnecessary.
When actual titers are done, the immunity usually lasts for 5 or more years..

Yes Anindya.
Rabies - a 3-year vaccine can be given anytime after the initial 1-year vaccine. This means that if a year is skipped, the next rabies vaccine given will still be a 3-year vaccine. If a 1-year rabies vaccine is skipped, the next vaccine is still a 1-year vaccine.

It differs from state to state, and from county to county. Some requires the vaccine to be given every year, others requires it every three years. It's the same exact vaccine in either case.
It has been proven though, that the vaccine stays in a dog's system for a minimum of 5 years.

Depends, did you get the 1 year shot, or the 3 year shot? Did you have the dog tested to see what sort of immunity it has built up to rabies, or just get the dog vaccinated?

Just to be clear. As your varied answers indicate the IMMUNITY lasts a long time. The LEGAL protection lasts 1 yr or 3 yr depending on state regulation. My state the first one is a year the rest 3 yr. and if you skip one its a year again but states vary....
