What does the Bible say about homosexuality?

There are those who like to say that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. Various verses are cited (out of context) and the verses that people use to show that homosexuality is wrong are explained away. The world wants to change God's words and meanings into something more suitable to its sinful desires. Nevertheless, the truth stands: The Bible condemns homosexuality as a sin. Let's look at what it says.

Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

What should be the Christian's Response to the Homosexual?

Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for him (her). Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible. It needs to be laid at the cross, repented of, and never done again.
As a Christian, you should pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same you would any other person in sin. The homosexual is still made in the image of God -- even though he is in grave sin. Therefore, you should show him same dignity as anyone else you come in contact with. However, this does not mean that you are to approve of their sin. Don't compromise your witness for a socially acceptable opinion that is void of godliness.

So walking straight (no pun intended) into a religous debate and you being gay expected no confrontation on the subject of homosexuality? So not only are you gay but you're stupid. Not saying being gay is stupid. But calling you stupid for thinking you are going to change their minds over this issue. So you're gay! Great, good for you!! You want everyone to know it. Way to go on that as well. You're gay and you're proud shout it out loud!! You provoked the debate more than likely because of that chip on your shoulder. Here's an idea lets put a KKK memeber and a Black supremicst in a room together and see what happens. Gee, what do you think will happen? They'll sit down calmly over a nice cup of tea. Get da freak outta here!! Grow up!! You think because you are gay that everyone is supposed to accept it? So congrats gay person you just made yourself look very stupid!!

I thought I stood up pretty well for you in the other question. Not all Christians are like that. Sorry some ppl feel the need to spew hatred! If they were truly Christians, they would not say Gays are evil!!! I think ppl like that hate looking in the mirror and have to put someone down to lift themselves up.

If you want to be left alone in your bedroom...fine...then keep it in your bedroom, and not in the schools and on TV and in public. Don't ask for me to pay by government extortion to find a cure for AIDS which is the consequence of your sin. Don't ask me to pay for the treatment of your dieases...or to have a turkey baster father your child. Keep it in your bedroom and no one will bother you...bring it into public view and you have to accept the reaction it generates...or would you so like to control peoples minds and beliefs that you won't tolerate anyone or anything that criticizes what you approve of? And stop acting like your some kind of phukking celebrity, just because you like to munch carpet...it's YOUR choice, dont try and inflict it on us. You're the one who can't accept the gender with which you were born...if you cant accept the way you were born, why should we accept your denial of that?

Hi I'm a Christian and I have nothing against you.

Jesus loves us all and through Him, I have the ability to love all those around me, gays are non-gays included.

Hope you'll find reconciliation within your heart over this issue. =)

I have nothing against the homosexual as a person. I have a few gay friends and they are wonderful people. It just makes me sad that they are separated from Our Lord the most High Jesus Christ and I tell them because I love them as friends. They accept my views and ultimately it is their choice. I value ther friendship and I pray they will see the truth. They just laugh.

Cheers!

*majority of Christians ON THIS BOARD. Don't throw away all apples tainted by the bad ones.

If it bothers you so much, then don't announce it. I don't shove it in your face that I'm straight.

You cannot blame US for THAT! WE didn't cause it in the first place and WE didn't cause it again.

It is your own fault... It is a natural body function brought on by partaking of liquids.
