What does the patient have, a malady? A doctor should be professional and treat all patients with respect. If he acts shamefully then he is shameful. If he does not, then it is not shameful. All doctors take the Hippocratic oath to do no harm.

You are questioning the very core ethos of the medical profession. However the quastion is very relevant and worries a number of people. The only answer that I can offer you is: Every doctor takes an oath to treat a patient with respect, care and in a professional manner. It is central to the medical profession At the time of the operation the doctor has a huge and demanding task ahead of him. The patients life is at stake in many cases. He has to focus on the job at hand. There are a number of people present including junior doctors, assistants, nurses and and anaesthetist. This is the last place where such unnessary and distracting thought would normally confound a good doctors mind. Perhaps your question stems from projecting what you would personally envision yourself to be distracted with. However I can reassure you that most of the millions of doctors working around the world consider the patients dignity to be above all other considerations.

There is nothing to feel shy if a lifesaving situation arises...

However, the patient and surgeon with different gender should be avoided for operating upon sensitive parts that are usually kept covered in civilized life... in such cases usually the female counterpart feel uneasy and offended... even males also feel transgender sensations, that may affect the job adversely…

in the US we think nothing of it at all. The Dr. has seen hundreds of bodies, and the surgical patient is draped with sterile sheets except for the actual surgery area. Believe me there is nothing sexual about it.

They are professionals. There is nothing sexy about a body that has been cut open and is bleeding.
