serious answers only please...
my chihuahua had hernia surgery 2 months ago. It went fine. Now the trouble is beginning with her. She has had DIAREHHA for 4 days, chases her tail like CRAZY and had chewed around the base of tail. She also now smell real bad even after a bath. its a weird smell like she is sick (like a dead smell). her diet and behavior is normal. What is going on?? Please dont say the obvious take to vet response. I already know that answer, just want to know what Im dealing with

I really do wish that you would email me with more description on your dog. I would say that her body is going through irrnatural stages of the surgery. Sometimes freak things happen during these surgeries. As a vet nurse, I am going to tell you the normal take-dog-to-the-vet, because you really should, but really it depends on her symptoms. If something is wrong with her hernia again the symptoms should get more severe, but i do wish you would email me!
hope it helped, if you have any question on dogs, breeding, or caring tips and info: glowgooch62@yahoo.com- Professional dog breeder, care taker, and vet nurse

I would have a vet check her anal glands for an abscess or rupture first....that may be a simple answer and a quick, less costly fix. Some of the symptoms you are describing can happen when there is a problem with the anal glands, especially the tail-chasing and the smell.
If that is not the case, get her worked up immediately. Bloodwork, x-rays, etc. Is she still eating and drinking well? If she has had diarrhea for that long, I would bet she is super-dehydrated and probably needs to be on IV fluids, among other things. Regardless, get her seen. No one on this forum is going to be able to diagnose your pet without seeing it, and really shouldn't even try to. There are lots of people out there with just enough information to do a lot of damage and as a vet that sees this problem too often, I'd hate for you to take bad advice and harm your pet further.
Best of luck.
(Edit: As I figured would happen, some of the above advice is not good! Please just get your pet seen by a vet ASAP, even though I know you don't want to hear that answer.)

Dog balls...the doggy's self-worth? Ha! The rattling matters are plastic and the animal will get no advantage from having them in his scrotum. The vet offered you a invoice of items so he might take advantage of your lack of knowledge. And if it was once your inspiration to have them implanted he will have to have attempted to dissuade you. Dogs (primarily puppies) haven't any inkling of what occurred within the vet's workplace besides he fell asleep and has a few agony down through his penis. But he does think much less competitive and now the mutt around the avenue does not look to be such a lot of a danger to him. Go to him and feature the puppy handled for the irritation and swelling, in case you nonetheless believe him. Good success J

After 4 days of diarhea, u are risking severe dehydration in your animal. I wouldnt spend alot of time on here for answers when u should be seeking them from your vet, especially after that surgery. There is a condition in the intestine that can kill them if it becomes infected could also be causing that smell. For all u know they could have tied up the wrong thing in there. Seek medical help, u dont have alot of choices.

some dogs have anal sacs that have to be emptied every few months. When the glands fill up they are uncomfortable there. You can empty them yourself but it's best for a vet or dog groomer to do it. The smell is awful. Just a possibility.

Her scar might be infected (I know a person who had a C-Section and her scar gets infected ans smells although she bathes regularlly) and about her tail area she might just n=be allergic to something and check for fleas, but try not to use flea shampoo (it has pestisides in it) you can get frontline plus or something like that.

it really sounds like an infection. I couldn't say what but given her recent surgery it might be intestinal. Also make sure you don't have any of that recalled dogfood. Do you know how to take her temperature?

It sounds like she needs her anal sacs emptied. Your vet or groomer will do this, usually about $10
You can do it yourself if you are brave, by following this animated site's directions. but you can ask the groomer or vet to show you how (better) > http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_anal_sacs.html
