On the Oregon 40S form, it asks what my "2006 federal tax liability ($0-$5000)" is? Can someone explain how I calculate this?

The total amount of TAX that you owed in 2006, before any TAX payments were deducted!

It's the Total Tax line from your Federal return. Just copy the number over, that's all.

Look on whatever version of 1040 form you filed for federal.

It is your tax liability minus any nonrefundable credits (education credits, child tax credit, etc.
