What is the youngest age to develop breast cancer, or any cancer of any type and tumors run in the family, but cancer is has a quite a bit of distance in our family generations, but I am 17 and I am worried that I might have a tumor, because my breast hurts and I'm not sure how to feel a lump. This is not one of those sick stupid questions. If you can give me real appropriate answer it will be greatly appreciated.

You can develop breast cancer at any age, but you can also develop benign lumps in the breast at any age, which are harmless. Because of your family history, even if there's relative distance for this condition, I would strongly recommend that you see a doctor to find out for sure. Either he/she will put your mind at ease, or will deal with it before it endangers your life. Please, see your doctor.

Certain types of breast cancer are not due to genetics, or hereditary. I come from three generations of women with breast cancer. My maternal aunt just went through a long ordeal with breast cancer. She found out that the strain that she had is not hereditary.

The best treatment for cancer is early detection. Yes, if it runs in your family you should be concerned, but concern needn't mean "worry."
Age `17 is not too early to be concerned about it. I found a web site that might interest you.
I never had cancer but my mother, father, wife, and grandfather did.
I hope you ( and I) never do.
Good luck.

Please see a doctor as soon as possible to set your mind at ease. Ask for a pamphlet on self examination of the breasts. Basically, you lie down and use the opposite hand to feel the breast. Your hand should be flat, apply a little pressure in a circular motion. It's a little hard to explain clearly.
