The important thing is that you have a clear view of the satellites' locations in the southern sky. If you are lucky enough to have a window that faces the right direction, you can keep the dish indoors. My friend did that while he lived in an apartment temporarily. Find out from DirecTV the compass readings and elevation to the satellites from your location.

Highly unlikely.
Dishes have to be pointed to a specific point in the sky. I'm sure glass would interfer and you'd probably never find a window that pointed in the direction needed.

If you have a clear view of the southwestern sky (no trees) it might, but the signal may not be too good.

It could if done properly. Please note that if you live in the US apartment owners and other organizations cannot limit your right to fair access programming. If they have it in writing the FCC would LOVE to see it and fine them big time.
