In light of the Virginia Tech event and many of the horrific events that have happened in the past, why is the perpetrator most commonly a man? As a woman, I wonder if there are deeper issues that men deal with that women can't even imagine or what? I KNOW that all men are not prone to such violent acts, but it just seems so uncanny how so many men seem to go over the edge and snap in such violent ways. Any insights?

Women are more likely to ask for help when they have mental health problems. They find it easier to talk about their feelings.

Men bottle everything up and then explode. Usually a violent or self-destructive episode before they realise they need help.

woman tend to express their feelings more openly than men. We get together to gossip and ***** more than what men do generally. We have heart to hearts with people. Men tend to bottle it all up till they finally explode. If men realised that it is alright to show emotion and talk about what's really going on in their lives, then there probably wouldn't be so many cases of men just snapping.

Women express frustration by passing it off to their men through nagging/withholding. Ergo, when a man already has enough to deal with, and you pile that stuff on top, it is very likely overwhelming. When a woman loses it it's called a 'bad episode' or 'nervous breakdown'. When a guy loses it; it's 'domestic violence', abuse, or homicide.
