First of all not all of us have asked for prayer to be taken out of the schools. I believe everyone should have a right to pray as they wish when they feel they should. I believe it should be that way for every religion however and not just the Christians. I have seen an increase in the violence not only in the schools but in general. For example, I took my 5 year old for kindergarten testing today and they have a security guard at the elementary schools now. Now I have a 16 year old daughter that went to that same school when she was younger and they didn't have security guards then. Society seems worse now because it looks at all religion as taboo now.

Because it's confused enough as it is already without adding "which" religion is the "righeous" one. As a kid, I remember saying the pledge of allegiance, and in catholic school "praying," but it still didn't stop me from beating a few heads in during recess. I gather you relate violence on the increase due to these things being taken out of schools, so would you have them taught how the Israelites were some of the most ruthless conquerors of their time or how they hung Jesus on a tree, to add to all they see already? The INCREASE for violence and murder comes out of the age of TECHNOLOGY which has made many into social outcasts. People don't relate to each other like they used to except it be through a "machine" and one on one contact is on the decline, as is "discipline." When you have government telling you that CHILDREN cannot be "spanked' or "disciplined" as they were in the past by parents SOCIETY pays the price. There are many factors why violence is on the rise and it has nothing to do with schools and "faith." One of it involves the divorce rates in this country and how people do not STICK to their obligations and responsibilities. I could go on and on but it all comes down to the same thing. It has LITTLE to do with prayer or the lack of it.......

Why do some people worship a god who's such a wuss that he can be kicked out of schools by mere human judges?
Why are some Americans under the delusion that students aren't allowed to pray in school?
Why have some people not considered that, since different students have different religions, and some not at all, it is inappropriate and impossible for a state school to lead a prayer for everyone?
Why can't these parents teach their kids how to pray instead of waiting for a government-run school to do it for them?
Why do some Christians think that violence can be reduced by praying to a god that has committed more wanton violence than any human? (You don't think so? Go back and read your Bible. And please don't make excuses for your god; that's pathetic.)
Why do some people ASSume that school violence is caused by secularization? Are they not aware that statistics show an *inverse* correlation between violence and secularization of societies?
@Lion of Judah - People give Madelyn Murray O'Hair [sic] WAAAAAY too much credit for far too many petitions, fictitious and otherwise. She was not the one who removed state-sponsored prayer from state-sponsored schools; see sources. And NOBODY has removed private prayer from any school. (While i'm at it, she did not petition the FCC to ban religious radio, and she was *dead* long before she tried to cancel _Touched by an Angel_.)
@Worshipful Hearts - You make some wonderful points! Keep spreading the word to your fellow Christians.

I would re-state what was said in the other sensible answers but I would assume you've already read them.
And to the person who mentioned this country was built on Christianity, I'll quote the treaty of Tripoli -
"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion, - as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen, - and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
Read the first couple words.
So why does the public allow this to happen? One - It's completely unrelated to what you are talking about, and two - It's something that never should have been there to begin with.

There may be a correlation but that does not prove cause and effect. There is a lot more going on in our world to cause violence than the absence of a one-minute prayer before school. Poverty, abuse and war, and much else. These kids need a lot more than a perfunctory forced prayer can give them. ,

Violence is on a downward trend. Your data is skewed and your logic is flawed. Correlation does not equal causation.
Let's suppose that violence has increased over the past four decades. So have smog levels. Couldn't we then blame violence on smog? Average caloric intake has increased amongst students over the past four decades. Maybe all that food is causing them to become violent. The number of cars on the roads have increased over the past four decades. Maybe school violence has to do with traffic congestion.
By your line of logic we could attribute any trend to any other cause if we use our imaginations. Which is what you have done. Try using reason instead.

no you are able to furnish you a "credible article" because of the fact none exists. there's no hyperlink between college prayer and diminished violence. I think of you will come across an excellent form of articles to the alternative. i'm a survivor of Catholic college. We prayed daily, and an excellent form of the infants in that place have been particularly violent. We had extra suitable than our share of bullies, and play-backyard fights have been a daily incidence. in case you seem on the statistics pertaining to serial killers, you will discover a lot of them had deeply non secular upbringing. Sorry, yet any article written by using a preacher, or a "non secular chief," might immediately be suspect. all of us understand what their agendas are. Religionists want there to be a reason in the back of teenagers in college to wish, particularly, to wish to their Christian god. it is not approximately salvation; it is approximately theory administration. so a good distance as i will see, that's a ineffective gesture, and the time is better spent coaching teenagers to study, write, upload, subtract, and picture.

The reason the Bible has not returned to our public school system is man hates God He does not want to be reminded how sinful he is that is why he hates the Ten Commandments. Removing religion has nothing to do with violence. That is just a byproduct of a anti-God society. God does not rule where man does want him but he still controls the world. He allows good and evil run thier course like he allowed our ancestors Adam and Eve to choose sin. In the book Judges God allowed emphasis mine man to do what is right in his on eyes that is allowing evil to run its course. In Matthew Herod killed little children twelve and under. But God brought the baby Jesus into the world By a virgin Mary. God allowed Good. Man has a choice he can choose good or evil. The public school system and our supreme court has chosen to hate God and his word. They are reaping the very products of that choice Evil! Man said there is no God I will have no God! Choose life or death America has chosen death on our nation with out God you have violence and an anarthy.
Yours In Christ's Love & Grace

Please, just becase God isn't forced upon people doesn't mean they don't have morals. Don't make the arguement many ignorant Christians make, you people believe just because someone doesn't live by the Bible they have no morals. What a bunch of baloney.
For your information God is still in the pledge of allegiance. Whenever someone calls seperation of church and state on this, they get bombarded by Christians, when obviously, it shows favoritism to one religion over others.
Violence increases as proportionally as population growth does. Do you think we are more violent today than in the 1800's when people massacred Native Americans, and enslaved people of color, disregarding the value of their human lives?
We must work for a civilized society, all of us.

Good question. Some countries are luckier. They allow prayer in schools. Let us pray the US leaders are enlightened that as long as they keep God outside of the schools, they are inviting tragedy in the world more and more.
