Why do Jehovah's Witnesses put all of their trust in the Watchtower organization when it only goes back to 1879?

This is over 1,800 years AFTER the time of Jesus and the apostles.

Here is something about it:

Bad Squirrel, Bad: If Catholic.Com sticks to the facts and can back up what it writes (which it does), then what difference does it make that it's coming from a Catholic website?

...JW deny the Deity of Christ; the Catholic Church believes in the Deity of Christ.
...JW have their own "translation" (New World Translation), that is modified to suit their doctrinal tastes. They have altered passages - here is one in particular, that shows the Deity of Christ - in John 1:1, their bible says "the Word was a God" - too bad that article is not found in the Greek...but it does help them with doctrinal heresies.

Why would a religious organization make this comment?

The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”—(1967), Vol. XIV, p. 299.

Notice the Apostolic Fathers had nothing even remotely approaching a trinity in mind when they wrote the bible.

As a Christian do you have this same attitude?

(Romans 15:3-6) . . .” 4 For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 Now may the God who supplies endurance and comfort grant YOU to have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had, 6 that with one accord YOU may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ?

All translations of the Bible are different than the original, and are translated to suit the ideas of each religion/sect.

The only way to read the the actual Bible would be to learn biblical Hebrew and read a Jewish Torah, the text of which has never changed over the years.

The Christian Bible was first written in Greek, and may have included Gospels that were originally writtn in Aramaic or Hebrew.

Since there is no "Watchtower Organization" and that is a term made up by opposers, your question is wrong.

Why do your questions appear different thatn the topic?

The fact that Jehovah's Witnesses was restored in 1874, shows that we are the true religion because everything is happening as Jesus said it would. Read Matt 13 and the weeds and wheat.

Our Bible is by no means "Radically" different from ANY other "Mainstream" Bible.

We do not put ALL our trust into the Watchtower Organisation. We put all our trust and faith in God. He gave mankind the Bible.

Why would someone go to the representative website on Catholosisum to learn the beliefs of Witnesses????

If I was interested in learning about Catholics would you want me to go to a website about Judiisam??? We have a website, http://www.watchtower.org I doubt I would ever tell some to go there to learn the ins and outs of your beliefs. I am sure that both sites, probably, cover some details on the other faith, but surely it makes more sense to get it straight from the horses mouth, doesn't it????

The answer to the first question relates to how much of the original languages the "translators" knew. One analyst said that they "knew a little greek" - he ran a delicatessan down the street.
There is significant scholastic dishonesty in the translation. These people are shaping the Bible to fit their theology and not the other way around.

The New World Translation is not "radically different" and we'd be happy to use any good translation when we have discussions with people.

Instead of believing biased reports, why not go to the source? http://www.watchtower.org/

Does the age of a religion suddenly cause it to be right or wrong? I'd rather look at what it teaches.

A lot of religions don't make sense when you delve into them. People are very self righteous and everyone has a different interpretation of the Bible and everything else. This person has just gone a little too far with his self righteousness.

1800 years? When the New Testament was written the Torah had been around for at least that long.

Paul never knew Jesus now did he? And he's responsible for a large portion of the New Testament.

I'd rather trust something from 1879 than something 1800 years older than that.

You and the Jehovah's Witness are a lot closer than you think.
