Yes, the serpent had legs. God, took the serpents legs as a punishment for tricking Eve into eating the fruit. The serpent was cursed to crawl and his belly and eat dirt for the remainder of time.

I believe that is a brilliant and thought provoking question. In recent years it's been discovered that in the snakes evolution it first lost the front legs. I don't know the proper spelling but the name is like: Packy Rackus. I remembered if because two legged snakes are not a rarity even today.

yes. i read in some nature/science mag (or tv programme) before that snakes/serpents used to hv legs!... somehow through "time/evolution" the legs are gone...
