I went for a MRI tonight. she asked me if I had any medel on me...I said no...
I had forgotten that I put safety pins under my my hems of my slacks....
I will call tomorrow...Just asking...Not just asking...Now what?
Have I done something to my body....
Naturally, I will call them in the morning..
What have I done, to the MRI and myself.
Thanking you in advance for your reply.

That's cool - the safety pins are unlikely to have had iron in them. It's a safety measure because the MRI machine uses a powerful magnet, and the risk is that it may pull whatever metal that's on you in the direction of the field, and that can be very dangerous.

Unless the pins were directly next to the area of the body being examined, they are unlikely to affect the result of the scan.

Check your hems and see if the pins are still there. If so, you have nothing to worry about. The reason she asked is because an MRI is essentially a giant magnet, so anything metal you had could get pulled into the machine with great force, thus injuring you. But since you seem to be ok and you didn't notice the pins flying out of your hems, you're all right. A few pins in your hems won't hurt the MRI at all.

I found this article for you:

I think the biggest physical danger is that sometimes metal absorbs heat. But if you weren't burned, then your body is probably OK.

The biggest financial danger is that the metal messed up the MRI, and you'll have to take it again. But, if the body part under diagnosis was far from your hemline, then maybe you'll be OK. At least that's something you can find out tomorrow.

Don't worry, lay out some clothes with *no* metal just in case, and get a good night's sleep!

You haven't done any harm to yourself unless you have burn marks from the safety pins, but your images may have gotten messed up if they were doing in the area of the pins( Ankles/feet)

Always remove all metals for your safety, there was a child that was killed when an Oxygen tank left in the room was pulled by magnetic force toward the machine and fractured his skull.

Nicotine and Nitro patches containing metal should also be removed.

I find it highly unusual that they would give you an MRI while you're wearing clothes.

Normally they get you to undress, remove all jewelry and put a gown on.

Regardless, you're still alive, and the machine isn't broken, so don't worry about it.
