I don't fault any one for trying to work on there own cars. Front wheel drive cars and limited resources access to a lift and clutch alignment shaft ability to clean the bell housing press on a throw out bearing, replace a clutch pilot bearing etc. might keep the average mechanic from doing a clutch on a front wheel drive car. Also 17 year old cars might have rusted bolts. Good luck

It depends entirely on your level of skill and the workspace you have available. By asking this question, I'm led to believe that you're not very confident in your ability to repair the vehicle yourself, so I'll have to say that based on the available information it would be moderately to highly difficult. It's just one of those things that you'll probably come out cheaper paying someone else to do.

is not that hard if you have a little mechanic knowledge but since you are asking is obvious you dot have it . why don't you let someone with experience do it for you , I mean , I understand you are trying to save some money is it? but if you don't do it right and try to force the tranny and the engine back together you can damage a couple of things pilot bearing or worse , damage your engine by pushing your crankshaft forward due to the pressure , I will recommend to let a mechanic do it for you.

Sounds difficult enoigh to just take to the dealer and let them do it correctly.
