Man, I can not believe that your doctor just told you that flat out. First you should get either a second opinion or a new doctor all together. Was this a primary care physician or a specialist---Dermatologist? If this was a Dermatologist find another one. If this was just your general provider, make an appointment with a Dermatologist or plastic surgeon even. You need someone who can give you experienced advice about your acne scars, not just brush you off. With all of the advances in modern medicine, I can not believe that acne scars can not be treated. You may not get the skin that you were born with, but surely you can gain a better appearance than what you have now. It will probably be costly, but that all depends on how much it means to you. Where there is a will there is a way. If you do choose to go to a plastic surgeon, choose one that gives a free consult on the initial visit. Go in, let him/her assess your condition, and make a treatment plan that sounds good to you and your wallet. Also, do not use too many astringents or harsh chemicals on your skin. Those things can often make conditions worse. I would suggest that to clean your skin, use a cleanser for sensitive skin. Do not use alcohol based products, you are going to have to start reading the labels. Use moisturizers with a SPF of at least 15. Aveeno Daily Radiance is excellent. Sun exposure can often make a condition like yours worse so the sunscreen factor is necessary. I had a problem with my thyroid and my skin broke out terrible. Make up made the condition worse, so be careful not a wear too much, and choose one that is non-comedogenic, oil-free, and won't clog pores; Covergirl, and Revlon, Neutrogena, Almay, and Loreal cosmetics are good choices---just be sure to read the labels and match your skin tone. There are also some more expensive acne cosmetics that you will find in your better department stores like Dillard's. Dermablend for acne is available, in fact the entire skin care line is available. You can also seek it out online at the site whatshebuys.com. It's an excellent camouflage. If you consult with a Dermatologist ask him/her about Differin gel or cream. I use the cream and I LOVE IT. It shrinks and clears pimples in just a couple of days of use. It's amazing. The gel stings to me, but it may work for you. See if you can get samples of the gel and cream to see which one works best for you. There is also an acne product called Finacea. If I have a really big and solid pimple that has not gotten a head on it yet, I use it and it shrinks it then I'll switch to the Differin to finish it off. I rarely have any scars or blemishes now and if I do I use Lustra AF which is a blemish cream that lightens any scars left behind. I love it all. My skin glows now, and I feel great. Do some research online so that you can go prepared with articles and questions for the doctor if you choose to go for a consult.

Do not let another physician tell you that NOTHING can be done. There is always something that can make an improvement not only in your appearance, but in your self-esteem as well. Good luck with everything, I hope that you find the answer you are looking for.

First, although you feel your face is horrible, I would bet that many other people do not look at you that way. So, stop putting your self down.

Second, forget the over-the-counter stuff. If you can, just go see a dermatologist who can prescribe stronger medicated creams or even antibiotics to work on all the current pimples. Your doctor is not an expert.

The only thing you can really do for the scars is have some work done by a plastic surgeon. They have things like (I know this sounds gross) chemical skin peels, or "sanding" off the upper layers of your skin to allow new skin without scars to grow.

In any case, go see another doctor. A dermatologist handles these things.

I'm sorry, I don't know what to tell you. There are lots of things that work to clear up acne but I don't know what to use to get rid of the scars. Try taking a vitamin E every day and also using a vitamin e cream on your face.
You probably already know this, but acne scars are not the worst thing that can happen to you, right? I wish you the best but I hope you also try to find some things that keep you happy and give you something to fall back on when you find out you can't change the inevitable (we'll all fall from grace sometime)

If you have oily skin using a moisturizer is not going to help. Get yourself some face wash like clean and clear. Also drink lots of water and keep your hands away from your face at all times. Change your pillow covers every 3 days. Also eat 3 apples a day, that keeps the blemishes away.

Get another doctor. This one is very insensitive. If you can't afford Proactiv, then order it off ebay. You can get it cheap there, just make sure it is sealed and not expired. It works it you use it every morning and night. All 3 steps. Cleansing wash, Toner, and lotion.

just wear a paper bag.....just kidding, i will help you, i've gone through similar problems that actually lead to suicide attempts. i found a decent solution. use pure vitamin e oil (not mixed with other oils) and apply that to your face twice daily (once in the morning and once at night). remember, make sure that its pure vitamin e, or u won't get any results. As for proactive, try it, im sure it won't do anything against the problem. it cant hurt to try it.

Sorry. Really your doctor said that to you? There are treatments though! Surgery, laser, chemical peels and such. Chemical peels have been recommended to me and I've got scarring on my cheeks also. =( Anyways, goodluck. I really hope you get this fixed. I mean it's just one of those things, you know...where it discourages you from doing practically anything.
