Good luck! My 6 1/2 year old Mini doxie LOVES stuffed animals. Like yours, she tears the stuffing out of them within minutes, but then she baby's the "body" for months. I've got so many torn up "bodies" of toys around my house, but she plays with each and every one. And if it has a squeaker? Geez, look out. Those drive her nuts. She's very destructive when it comes to her toys. I've spent lots of money searching for the best dachshund proof toy. Right now, her favorite toys are the stupid songbirds you can find at a lot of gift shops. She kills the voice box, rips the birds open to get the guts out. I've found that if you pre-gut the stuffed animals, it makes life a lot easier.
I also had a 4 year old mini doxie (we just put her down over Thanksgiving weekend) had a 2 inch rubber ball with a jingle bell in it that she played with 24/7 (I'm not kidding). She would carry this ball around with her everywhere, even outside on potty breaks! Needless to say, we would replace the ball every few months after they got too chewed up.

verify including your vet, lots relies upon on the dogs weight. If over weight carry up and down stairs, yet walk two times an afternoon. i for my area am no longer partial to daschunds, yet my youngster sister has had for 30 years. She has on no account lived in a 2 tale domicile, the dogs leaping on and rancid the mattress or the settee, 12, 14 years previous her dogs have been nonetheless doing it. I might desire to admit the dachshunds have been better than her new breed, dalmation. i for my area theory daschunds have been dumb, i did no longer understand what dumb grew to become into. Sorry i'm a Terrier proprietor. If the dogs has subject carry it and get a vet verify, i understand they have undesirable backs, is it any worse than a 5 lb yorkie going up and down stairs. She does merely nice at 8 years. yorkies have hip themes.

There is that really hard rubber he can't tear through.

Rope toys are not recommended for dachshunds. They often have issues with aggressive behavior that is encouraged by these "fighting toys." Not that I can stop mine from fighting with any toy she has. For outside, try a slightly deflated basketball. One of the funniest damn things you will ever see.
Its a small wonder this breed was used to kill badgers and the like. Good thing they are so small.

i have had 2 dachshunds for going on 14 years.Harley & Davidson. Harley was 2 years old and a total terror in my home back then.i tried every toy and "quick fix" each of these answers have suggested and the only thing i found to stop the destruction was , believe it or not , another dachsund.when i got Davidson, it gave Harley something "indestructable" to direct his attention to.the 2 of them were inseparable and the demolition subsided....it didn't stop but it was definately tolerable after that.sadly Harley went to heaven last year in february but now ,thank God, Davidson is too old to really care about chewing things.her main concern is "making sure noone steals the couch" (ha ha) good luck and welcome to the world of dachsunds!! :)

Ha! These guys are the worst chewers-my male B&T has destroyed 5-6 dog beds, countless toys, chewed the tags out of some of my t-shirts, and got ahold of a few DOWN PILLOWS-lots of fun... Anyways we got our little devil a toy from petsmart for x-mas mad of canvas it looks like a trout-they come in other shapes, but we take ours fishing, and it was made by a company called "half-ton of yanking fun". ANYWAYS aince x-mas he has onle managed to chew off the tag, and the fin off of the back, which for him-this is outstanding. Highly recommend these toys to any dog owner-im going to go stock up before i go and get my dobie puppy. Also, canvas training toys-used by hunters for teaching dogs to retrieve are also really durable-can also find these at most larger petstores. GOODLUCK, use doxie owners need it!

Myne does the EXACT same thing! She does it to get to the squeaker. I got her a dinosar toy w/ eggs inside. I think they are called Egg Babies. She pulls the eggs out of the toy, not the stuffing or squeaker. They are soft, not rubber. I found them at www.drsfostersmith.com
Good Luck!

Well I know that you want a toy that is indestructable, but by giving your dog something he can't tear up is a bad example. You should be correcting his chewing problem, not satesfying it!
