I'm considering a career in dentistry. I know it takes a lot of hard hard work, but what I'd like to know is how hard is the coursework and is it plausible for someone to get through it.?

IT'S A STEP BY STEP PROCESS. THERE ARE STAGES TO ALL OF IT.
I DID NOT THINK OF IT AS 4 YEARS OF HELL AFTER UNDERGRAD, BUT I JUST TOOK IT ONE DAY AT A TIME, AND KEPT SEEING MYSELF GRADUATING AS A DOCTOR OF DENTAL SURGERY.
LOOKING BACK THOSE YEARS SEEM LIKE A DROP IN THE BUCKET.
THE KEY IS LOVING WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO COMMIT TO. IF YOU DON'T LOVE THE FIELD THEN IT'S NOT FOR YOU.

I'm a student, if you really but really love with all your heart and mind this career, go ahead... If you have doubts, investigate about it, study it a year, if you don't like it in this time, forget it. But it's very difficult, you have to spend a lot of time studying, you'll see your friends having a future, couple, kids, money, job, and you'll continue been a student. Is 4 years of college and 3 or 4 dental school. In dental schoo you would take a lot of oral pathology, pharmacology, dental materials, and a lot of clinical. I am a dental assistant going to school for dental hyegien, because I don't want to end up with a 300,000 dollar loan, And dental hyegien is a great field.

It's not easy. Start getting experience now shadowing dentists and such. Dental school is four grueling years. Lots of lab time, lots of studying, lots of luck.
