What I mean is, in order to have a job, did you have to pass a written test?
Per example microsoft gives written test for their software engineer position. Do other companies requires so for non computer jobs?

To be licensed as an engineer (mechanical, Civil, or Electrical) in most states of the US you need to take (and pass) two separate 8 hour exams - usually separated by about 4 years of 'internship'.

After that there are no 'tests' per se.. just life which is a lot harder.

.

Bottom line.. 1) Define your career, 2) Study... 3) Prepare for your exams...4) Learn

Your question isn't really clear, but I'll try to answer it in what I understand it to be.

Most engineering jobs (for recently B.S. graduates) require graduates to take an EIT test. The EIT (Engineer in training) test is called the Fundamentals exam. It is taken only two times a year at various locations around the US.
