While it's possible to lose more than two pounds the first week do to ridding of water retention, true blue fat loss can safely be achieved at two pounds per week (7000 calories less than your maintenance level). You know, a lot of people just throw up a number when they want to lose (or gain) weight. But I'll bet you that, as you succeed, you will realize that you will feel great long before your stated goal. In other words, you may not need to lose that much in the first place

Safe? No...

*Unless* you are under direct supervison of a medical practitioner, in conjunction with a dietician and personal trainer.

Generally, 1-2 a week is what you should target for to avoid the risk of huirting yourself. Just always remember two things. First, "Diet" is not something you do to loose weight...it is what you do EVERY DAY, from the time you're born until you die. Second, once you loose the weight, the fat is still there...the contents are gone, but the cells are *not*! If you binge, you will put the weight on again.

I think it's an ambitious goal, but doable. Don't beat yourself up or get discouraged if you don't make your 3lb per week goal. Just keep going. Eat healthy, unprocessed foods, fruit and veggies, no snacking. Chew gum if you want to put something in your mouth. Good Luck!

yes, please try to limit it to 2 lbs a week. Because losing 3 lbs would be you cutting 10,500 CALORIES FROM YOUR DIET EVERY WEEK! Not healthy at all.
