It's hard to tell exactly which place being the best or the worst. Everyone has its own taste. For me I love some small cities such as Lijiang in Yunnan province, Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, Guilin in Guangxi province, Qindao in Shangdong province...etc apart from famous big cities like Beijing and Shanghai. In those small and medium sized cities you can find more history with rich cultural heritage. Also you can have more opportunities to different local cuisine.

Weihai - seafood and Liu Gong Dao, the naval base of Beiyang Fleet of Qing Dynasty.

Diqing ( Shangri La) - old lama temple and Tibetan culture

Beijing to Lhasa train ride - passing through Cocoxili

Jiuzaiguo - Natural scenery

And the worst are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Guilin and Xiamen
Sanya - The Hawaii of China

I think the best or the worst depends on what your feeling is. China has many world natural and cultural heritages. All of them deserve to visit. Of course, they are many best places in China, everyone has his/her own opinion.

I've always wanted to Kashgar because it's further away from the ocean than any place in the world and because they have a really neat bazaar there, but it has more in common with Central Asia than with China.
