Of course. Over the long haul it has to be. One big reason for atheism is the ToE (1859), so pre-Darwin, atheism was very uncommon. Atheism has been raising world-wide since.

Someone once said: "The Theory of Evolution allowed people to become intellectually fulfilled atheists."

Americans become religious when a tragedy happens(9/11)but quickly forget.They become i think more religious and less Christ like.

I read that statistically speaking, more people believe in the Genesis version of creation (70-80%) in the US than historical evidence. That shows a disturbing trend towards stupidism for the former colonies.

More disturbing is their current elected leaders, called by god to wage war and kill young American men. Other people killed as a result are of little consequence because god loves christians more.

I'd say 'god help us all', but if this is the best he can do, never mind...

I'd say neither, it's just getting more polarized...

As for uniting in a trajedy, personally, I -HATE- how it's an unthinkable trajedy when a few dozen people die in America, but just the way the world works when we're responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths abroad, or completely ignore a flat out haulocaust in Darfur...

From the spirit thats been on Yahoo answers after a major tragedy...I'd say less. Usually people can put aside differences in a crisis.

Why are you going for such a generalized question? It's impossible to answer with any accuracy.

How about this:

Americans are moving towards the extremes.
