Should this be allowed?? I was just reading the article(link below) about the services held today at VA Tech. Apparently, Allah and Buddah were used in services, but not one word about Jesus/Yeshua. How is it that He is getting pushed out of everything and Christians are laying down and just taking it?? Even the minister did not mention Christ's name. What is wrong with this picture? For all of you that are going to say "seperation of church and state", please refer to previous sentence regarding the mentions of allah and buddah.

Lady Suri-I went to check out some of your questions/answers to see what your "agenda" was all about. Just as I suspected, you are the pot calling the kettle black. You had no idea coming into this question that it had anything to do with the tragedy. You just wanted to take the opportunity to make a disparaging remark regarding Messiah.

Well, it would have been in poor taste to raise a fuss. But do not get too upset by this gradual encroachment. This is all part of the last days scenario. Everything is going just as God had prophesied, and no one has any control to stop it.

why would a man that had muslim writin on his arm-and lived against Jesus want anything said that would say he was wrong. THE TRUTH IS WE WERE PROMISED A MESSIAH-Isaiah 9:6 UNTO us will be born a child, a son will be given and he will be almighty God and the prince of peace."
Isaiah 52:13-53:12 "He will be exalted...first he will be marred more than any man, and lay down his life to make atonement for our sins, He will die with the wicked and be burried with the rich."
who do you know fulfills this and the commanded blood sacrifice innocent for our guilt Moses Leviticus 17:11
while you say your Jewish and reject Moses, Isaiah and our Messiah-why not say you have a new religion-because it is sure not Judiasm.
from a Jew Bar Mitzvahd who believes Moses, Isaiah and the Messiah too. and praying for you
why not Messianic Jewish-to believe in Jesus true love and to love all as your brother and sister-be allowed- go figure

I for one find it morally wrong that you are using the tragedy to push your agenda as a Xtian. So inconceivably wrong. In case you didn't know, at this point, it doesn't matter whose name is at the beginning of the prayer.
I knew it was about the tragedy because I'd heard some other yahoo on the news make a similar idiotic statement.
Either way, you have no idea why I clicked on this question. My "agenda" is basically to defend/explain Judaism to people who 1) try to attack it through misinformation 2) people who would just like more information 3) Messianics, who use misinformation to convert somebody.
Again, either way, my "agenda" does not use a tragedy to foward itself. Sorry.

Did you read the article?
A MUSLIM invoked Allah...
A BUDDHIST spoke of the Buddha's teachings (Buddha, contrary to most belief is not revered or worshiped as a god or higher being...he is honored as a teacher).
The LUTHERAN MINISTER failed to mention Jesus...and that's what is wrong with the picture.
This has nothing to do with the Seperation of Church and State (even Bush managed to not cross that line). It's obvious that these clerics were brought in to speak on behalf of their faith. It's equally obvious that they weren't given any type of restrictions on what they could say, as is evidenced by the mention of Allah and Buddha.
If you're going to insist on riding that high horse, and pointing a finger, maybe you ought to point it where it belongs...not at society or other faiths, but at the christian who decided to ignore your savior.

The minister didn't mention Jesus, that's on the minister's head. I doubt that has anything to do with the separation of church and state and everything to do with a minister that was falling down on the job.
Bush said this: "People who have never met you are praying for you. They're praying for your friends who have fallen and who are injured. There's a power in these prayers, a real power. In times like this, we can find comfort in the grace and guidance of a loving God."
I suppose it's unfulfilling to have the President speaking about god, prayers, the power of god and prayers, and the comfort to be found therein.

This article looks like it was written in a biased way, Why does it seem that one christian groups has more issues with another christian group even more than with the other religions? And seeing as there is ONE rep from Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Christianity, why do you think your religion should have had two?
No one else mentioned anyone but God, and you are upset that the christian did not get specific? No one else did either...

Virginia Tech is a State Institution and as such it's the separation of church and state thing. I know had I been the minister there I would have tossed the states rules out the window because I serve God not man. I don't care about man's rules or desires I only care about souls and telling people about Jesus is what I do. We are commanded in Matthew 28:19-20 and I do what God leads me to do not man. Let's all pray for the families and students at Virginia Tech. This is of grave concern. Souls are at stake here.

If the others are mentioned, then Jesus should also be mentioned.
A tragedy is no time to argue religion, it's about helping the people cope on their own terms.
And I should mention I don't trust that article one bit.
worldnetdaily is unreliable.

I am watching 48 Hours about the massacre now and some of the pictures show students in circles with their arms around each other obviously praying. When things are extreme, Jesus is called on. So why did they not allow Jesus in the memorial service. They may not have said his name, but he was there.
