first things first - unless you have had yeast infection's frequently before do NOT take OTC anything ( thats over the counter) - it could be something else like bacterial, viral or some form of STD. you do not say where you think you have a yeast infection - if vaginally you can use miconazole which comes in many forms ( one day, 7 day, suppositories or cream) - if it is orally the doctor needs to prescribe something - also - assuming you are a female - your partner should also be treated as you can just get it back again. getting the cream can fix that as that can be rubbed on his area easily and stay away from each other ( sorry lol) for the term of treatment.
i must again repeat - if you are not a frequent flyer of yeast infections ( those who are KNOW when its yeast) do NOT use the OTC and go to the doc first- the stuff was not put OTC to treat non yeast infections( actually i dont feel they should have put it OTC at all but the ins co.'s push for that type of thing to save money cause they dont have to pay then - same with things like zantac heartburn remedy shouild not be OTC - to many times heart attacks show similaiar symptoms and valuable time can be lost in treatment ) and treating a non yeast infection with this can make it worse and or delay treatment for what IS wrong. vaginitis, STD's, and other issues that COULD be showing similiar symptoms left untreated can cause damage you dont want to deal with. so please seek help if you arent sure.

Go to your local health food store and buy acidopholous. Be sure to get the one in the refridgerated section. I have found that the ones that you just buy off the shelf don't work as well. Take 3 two or three times a day (the bottle says to use less but it doesn't hurt you to take more) and then two a day for the next week. Assuming that the infection isn't already too bad it should take care of it. If it is already really bad though you may need to do the creams but the pills work great if you use them as soon as you feel an infection coming on.

Monistat 1? I prefer the 1 day treatments, but know that it can still take up to 7 days to work. CVS and Rite Aid should both have their store brand yeast infection cream, it works just as well.
Walmart has an all natural yeast infection suppository you can buy. It's only $4 for 15 suppositories, you use one a day for a week.

Yogurt, boric acid and garlic all help but they do not tackle the root cause of yeast infection which is Candida albicans.
Have you tried the holistic approach? It's not easy or quick and it does take some commitment but it is far more effective long term solution than any worthless cream or antibiotics.
Here's an honest and comprehensive program that helped me the most after ALL that I have tried has practically failed:

for real go buy some straight plain yogurt, put it down there and u will feel better in just a few mins. wash it off and follow up with an otc treatment like vagisil or something. try eating a serving of yogurt (with or without fruit) a day to prevent future infections..

Vagisil.
If you're not a woman, or it's not a vaginal yeast infection, then go to health food store & buy something called "Acidophilus". This will clear it up.

The best thing you can do to get over this soon is to stop eating sugar in any form. Also, try eating yogurt or drinking buttermilk. If you don't clear up in a week or so, please consult a Doctor.
