Yes, you can take it out now without a problem as long as it is not infected.

However, if you are tired of it because of problems with swelling, difficulty eating, or because it feels uncomfortable in your mouth, don't take it out. After about a week you'll be getting back to normal and be fine, and once you can shorted the bar, you will barely even notice it's there. I know for the first week I considered removing mine every single day, but I stuck it out and I'm glad I did. I would have regretted it if I had taken it out.

If you just flat-out don't like it, then go ahead and take it out, because the sooner you remove it, the less likely you are to have scarring. Make sure you keep your tongue clean though (stick with the mouthwash) until it's closed up completely to avoid getting infection in the open hole.

I really would suggest against it, removing the barbell right now while the would is still fresh could trap bacteria and germs inside of your tongue. The girl above is sort of right, having the longer bar in is a pain, and it can be uncomfortable. I would wait until 4 weeks are up, switch it for tha tshorter barbell, and if you are still not liking the piercing, then you should be safe to retire it then.

Dumb question, but why did you get it done in the first place??

I had the same thought as you when I got mine done

If you have not switched out for a shorter bar wait until you can do that if the bar is hurting you. You can take it out in 5 months and the hole would close. There was a reason you got it done, and I am guessing that the long bar is the problem.

You can take a piercing out at any time ... It will heal quickly since it's only been five days. Why did you do it in the first place if you weren't certain? Sorry ... waisted money that piercing was.

Like Somebody said, rinse your mouth until your tongue is healed. It could still get infected since it's an open wound.

the better portion of your tongue ring is that in case you pick you do no longer like it you purely take it out and it heals very speedy. It does not harm that undesirable to get it pierced and nicely swell for slightly yet ounce the swelling is going down your reliable to bypass. there is a few extensive cleanser required thou. you will get yeast infections on your tongue in case you do no longer use mouth wash regular! Oh, particular incredibly in case you drink alcohol. Oral intercourse is in my adventure greater problematic with it interior the way. additionally your possibility of having and giving STD's is greater then in case you probably did no longer have a hollow on your tongue. so some distance as what human beings think of of you while they see you have a tongue piercing will that merely relies upon on in case you care approximately what human beings think of. After various weeks you could eliminate the bar and put in a stopper. that rather retains the hollow on your tongue open yet isn't a bar with bearings on the tip. this is going to appear as if a gap on your tongue yet till there incredibly paying interest is actual no longer waiting to tell this is pierced by way of fact the ends on a stopper are flat and the bar that is going by isn't as long/tall as different "barbells".

Yeah, it'd be okay to take it out and let it heal. Just keep gargling with Listerine to disinfect and use warm water and sea salt to heal it over.
Good Luck!
