We are 4 teachers (ages 25, 28, 55, 60). I'd like for us to go some place sort of low key that has some good live music. It would have to be in a decent neighborhood near the subway since the "oldest" is a nervous nilley.

any suggestions you can give with a decent place would be fantastic!

u can go to bebe in brooklyn
take the m train to marcy
and walk down to beford avenue

but in nyc
take the f train to west 4 st
two doors after the mc donalds theres a place call
the big fat pussy cat club
its a nice place

Rodeo Bar -- it's free and three blocks from the 6 stop at Park Ave. South. At BB Kings you will pay around $20 to get in and a two drink mininum at around $8 a pop
