My female friend is Chinese, English and Greek. Her old male supervisor doesn't like her because she is Chinese.
My friend is very smart, professional and helpful to everyone in the office. The office improved because of her.
She was born and raised in America and does not speak with an accent. There is nothing wrong with her English.
What I don't understand is this: He tries to pick on her English.
Thinks or tries to treat of her as being stupid. Doesn't like her for being strong in appearance. She is not thin and weak looking.
She has already filed a work place compliant.
Why does her being Chinese bothers him? Even though, she is of 3 races, in his mind, she is only Chinese.

He is a racist, of course. She should confront him and say, "yes, I am of Chinese descent and proud of it. Why does my being Chinese make you such an ***?
If the man is an older one, he may be from the Vietnam War era. Some guys of that era have a good deal of trouble relating to Asians.

I'm glad that she filed a complaint. It definately sounds like this guy has an issue with her race. And even if he doesn't, he needs to understand that behavior like this is not acceptable in the workplace (picking on someone's apperance has NO place in business). Just because you work somewhere, does not mean that you deserve emotional and verbal abuse. She should stick with that complaint, and if they don't do anything- she needs to go to monster.com and look for another job. Tell her good luck!

It sounds like he might be threatened by her. He may be using the race thing as a cover for that.
