I use to read, and on Wednesday nights my Pastor would read through the Bible through the year.
I moved from the city to the country 200 miles from everyone and everything I knew. I didn't have anyone to spiritually feed my soul anymore. Spiritually dry and what I call alot of white magic.
But back in 1999 I got such a hunger for the Word of God and began to read it with an understanding I'd never known before. Now I love it, and love to hear others preach or share it.
These are the scriptures God got a hold of me with...
Hebrews 5:11-14 check it out!

I understand it because I worked to understand it. I asked the Holy Spirit to help me and I searched out books to assist me.

I find it is so well written that I get something new each time I read a chapter because my life changes. When you are young, you see things applying to your life. As you get married, some new application to married life. With a family and job responsibilities, something different that you had not thought of in just that way before.

Does anyone understand everything with the first reading, NO! If someone tells you that, be assured they are lying. Anything worth having takes work and this is of great worth.

I heard one man's good advice. Take notes. Say your reading a chapter and in the 1st verse one thought hits you and you say you can use this in your life. If you don't write it down, the rest of the column or maybe page will not register in your mind because will head is still back on verse 1.

Prayer also helps. Remembering all scripture is inspired and connected as a whole so in understanding, realize the correct meaning must agree with the rest of the Bible.

Sorry but you are wrong and so is your book. Will you just take a look at what is happening in the world and ask yourself if a God created this planet and everything in it and was the most powerful being in the universe and he was so loving and caring why would this world be so messed up? There is no God only humans and when you die that is it blackness just like going to sleep but no dreaming and no waking up. Good night. You cling onto the idea of a God because without it you are scared of dying. The bible is just a book of stories.

I've read the Bible several times for many years. It's not a book you can take literally. It's too complicated for uneducated people to comprehend. I gave up on that flawed man-made book, that's full of contradictions. I may occasionally use it as reference to ridicule the brainwashed fanatics. The bottom line is, if you are searching for the truth and why you exist, it's not in a book that is falsely claimed to be the word of God. You have to be a moron (like I was) to think God had anything to do with that compilation of writings which were edited, translated, and bastardized ....several times in the past.

I still have a bit of trouble understanding parts of the Bible because I don't know the history very well.. but the more Spiritual portions I believe that I do understand. I understand more of the Book of Mormon because I have read it several times and studied it much more.

It's not a matter of understanding what you're reading, it's a matter of being available spiritually to accept the depth of what you're reading.

It's like watching a movie. It's not that great to you. Then you go through things and you grow up and watch the movie again and it moves you to tears and changes your mind forever. Your spirit was ready to receive.

No one ever knows when.

It's happened to me.

It's the Holy Spirit that brings light to God's Word in our hearts. He reveals the truth of God's Word to us who are truly born again.

I can honestly say that I understand every word of what I read in the bible. Which is exactly why I reject it and the God contained in it.

Top Theologians don't agree on bible stories. Nobody understands it. People just make it whatever they want it to be. Its is a silly fable for irrational people. You can find a lot of hidden meaning in texts. Even ones the author never intended.
