Firstly- they are not similarly priced. The SD800 is ~$350 whereas the Z75 is $200. That's a hefty difference. you could buy the Z75 AND a Fuji F20 (for $132 at NewEgg) for less than the SD800.

The Canon SD700IS was (is) one of the top compact digicams on the market. Canon had a good idea, to add a 28mm wide angle lens to it. Unfortunately, their lens isn't so hot and shows fairly, uh... dramatic corner softness. Some are worse than others, but I've seen corner softness that's even very apparent in web sized photos from this camera (the SD800).

No camera is perfect. The Casio is responsive, and quite a bit thinner. The Canon has better image processing for higher ISO performance and a wide angle lens, but the lens ain't so hot. Personally, I'd go for the Fuji F31fd for $239, or the previously mentioned F20- which has the same image quality but without some features. The fuji's are 2-3 stops better in high ISO, which is even better than having IS (in most cases)

Heres a comparison:

Casio's are actually pretty good cameras. If you like it- go for it. You won't be sorry, and you'll have an extra $150 in your pocket vs the overpriced and overhyped Cannon.

If price is a concern, then go with Casio. Canon will be great as well. Just avoid Sony!
