Thats very good. I've also wondered why it is so hard to believe that someone loves you soo much that He came to Earth to die for you! but I do!!
Love in Christ!

Enshrined faith, as followed by christians is a mental sickness.
Apart from your faith in god, can you think of anything that you believe in solely because of faith? One thing that you trust implicitly without ever asking for evidence for it? I'll wait here while you try to come up with something...
Still waiting...
Can't do it, can you? The reason you can't is because you have afforded a special part in your mind that the god concept alone conforms to which allows you to believe without first seeing some evidence for it.
If I asked the same of you about UFOs or ghosts or sasquatch would that be a reasonable request to make?
"Have faith that Bigfoot wanders around the forests of the Pacific North-west and one day you'll see him."
Would that be a reasonable expectation? No. It wouldn't. Neither is it logical or reasonable to do it when you ask me to have faith in an invisible cloud man without first seeing evidence.

Santa Claus
Christianity really makes itself vulnerable in allowing the Santa story to remain alive.
For rational minded and skeptical kids, it's a direct leap from losing faith in Santa Claus to questioning faith in god
Of course swapping faith and evidence makes a huge difference. Imagine a justice system built on faith first, evidence later. The accused are presumed guilty, are imprisoned, with the faith that evidence will magically appear if they are in fact innocent.

Do you have faith that I will save you from death after you died? My Previous life died for the whole humanity and a small group of Aliens nutmegs (hence I am one notch above). Before some fake satan poser who claims to be my creation's grandson do so. I do it quietly, not loudly unlike that satan creature.
You will not have Evidence, but you must have faith. I am not the world, I am not the universe, I am not science, hence you must approach this differently.
So I command : Faith First, evidence after you died.
Is it that hard to swap evidences? and bla bla bla .... insert what you had written.
Now is the concept of faith first really that hard?

Here's the problem, faith means "firm belief in something for which there is no proof." I took that right out of the dictionary. So basically I have to believe in god because someone else told me to. There is no other reason than that. According to your "faith first" theory, I should also believe in Santa Claus, gremlins, zombies, the tooth fairy, the flying spaghetti monster, and any other concoction that the human mind can think of. Now I know I have never seen any of the things I just listed, but according to you, I might as well believe in them. I'm not saying that your god does not exist because I won't fool myself into claiming that I possess that knowledge, but I"m sorry, I just will not take your word for it, or any one Else's word for that matter.

I am not an atheist but a christian but I am also educated in some science and taught to look for evidence to back up conclusions. I struggle with this when it comes to my faith. I dont want to but sometimes it is difficult to overlook. We are taught that from almost day one of school but you cant apply it to religion. What does that leave people that think that way?

As an atheist I have no faith. Therefore I couldn't swap faith and evidence since there is only evidence and logic.

Not hard.
Impossible.
It's no use telling people who don't believe: "Just believe and you'll understand." If that were possible, then they would already be believers.
Faith is belief without evidence (or belief despite evidence to the contrary). Atheists don't have that, so you needn't repeat "god's commands" to them -- it's like telling them that their dog expects a T-bone steak for supper every day, they won't even consider it for a second.

The key to this conversation is "God commands."
Atheists don't believe in God. We don't care what someone else BELIEVES that an invisible super-being supposedly "commands". We have no reason at all to believe that there is anyone, or anything, commanding anything. Would you take it seriously if someone told you that Zeus commands that you awake at sunrise, and bow to the rising sun? I doubt it, and yet, that belief has no less credence than your belief. It's all based on nothing but folk tales.

The reality of God shouldn't be very different than anything else. If it is, then in many ways, God would not be real.
That being said, faith and fact are two different things. We don't convict murderers with faith, do we? The FDA doesn't approve new medications with faith, do they?
In the same way, we don't find love, find our place in society, or believe in God based on facts.
Neither are superior, they're just different.

I put faith first, and got no evidence from your god. So I stopped believing. Simple.
